Egotistical and incorrect eh? Want to explain ingition retardation to us? Share your knowledge on the internal workings of an Audi A3 engine? Just argue with random people?!!
So, no ill effects from using normal fuel. Sound advise, crack on. No argument here. Good day to you.0 -
The S3 is mapped from factory for min 95RON. It should not be run on anything less as this may cause damage. Most Audi specialists will advise 97 or 99RON. The S3 engine is well known for running much better on higher RON fuel. The engine is able to adjust its ignition and valve timing.
Remember its a high output 4 cylinder engine, so look after it. 150bhp/litre is actually quite a lot for a stock road car, a lot of high end sports cars will usually be around that bhp/L and it was not so long ago that a lot of super cars were 125-150bhp/L.0 -
You explain it, it was your point remember.
No, my point is that you're giving out advice about SUL/UL, whilst you admitted you don't know what ignition retardation is. It's directly linked to whether you should (or can) use different fuel RON values. I do know what it is, but I'm not explaining it to you. I asked you to go and find out before giving out advice. You're right that there will be no ill effects, in the category of the engine blowing up etc, but as I've already said, and you've gone out of your way to disagree with, you're buying a performance engine and losing out on that last little bit of power, responsiveness and economy, over 2p per litre. That might even be a false economy. That's an ill effect in my book. Most Audi specialists will advise 97 or 99RON
Or, you know, the fuel filler cap, or the user manual.0 -

No, I disagree. Loss of power is an ill effect in my book. You just picked one part of my post and ran with it.0
