So basically tie the uk to a permanent customs union therefore Remain. Why doesn’t labour and Corbyn have the guts to say they want to remain instead of the endless spineless fence sitting.
Of course the EU love his idea, it gives them exactly what they want!

What I find even more interesting is that some of his MP's have spat their dummies out because his plan is to much like Brexit. They honestly thought there would be a complete reversal and we'd stay after all:rotfl:"I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers."0

Yes, the Labour Party is truly a Democratic Party, keep holding a referendum until you get the answer you want....which is Remain of course.0 -

!
Because the majority of Labour Party members are young, urban / London and pro-EU.
But the majority of Labour voters are traditional 'blue-collar' working class, older and living in towns in Northern England, the Midlands and South Wales. They are mostly pro-Brexit.
So the Labour Party leadership has decided to sit on the fence and see how the Tories manage it. I'd do the same.
What would you do?0 -

Yes it's obvious why Labour are behaving like they are as it is with Tories and that's the problem.
When people don't do what you want it's called a problem.
When they do, it's called democracy in action. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

If he came out boldly for a remain-type option, he'd risk losing his traditional voter base (who are now pro-Brexit).0 -
Corbyn has always been eurosceptic and his ideal is for a Tory non-soft brexit so he gets what he wants and blame the Tories for the mess. Win-Win.0

The funny thing is that if Labour support Mays deal it does not preclude the soft Brexit that labour are advocating as that is all part of the final settlement that is not part of the exit deal currently being discussed. Is the withdrawal agreement is agnostic on whether we eventually go with a may style out of the customs union and single market deal or a corbyn style stay in both.
I read a piece this week that said 95% of Labours marginal target seats voted leave and that most current labour seats vote labour for other reasons so electorally their is only one possible public stance even if it doesn't reflect the views of the membership (momentum)I think....0
