So things aren't quite going to plan. DS now can't access the school wrap around care so I've had to drop my hours to be able to collect him from school. It's not ideal financially or workwise but it can't be helped. That means our savings target is probably unrealistic but I guess you have to aim high
I've also had to order another new phone as DS bit mine and cracked it's screen....could have done without that just before Christmas. I've ordered a cheaper one this time just in case
I watched the first episode of Sort my life out last night. It was nice to know that I'm not the only one with surfaces covered and cupboards rammed packed. It has motivated DH to go to the recycling centre this morning with 3 bags of old clothes, a bag of broken electrical items and some broken chairs to was worth watching
I've started Christmas shopping. Got some more bits to order online for the kids and I've got to find some wrapping paper, but trying not to go overboard. I also have our Christmas online slot booked inMortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30001 -
Sounds like the programme was motivating. Ouch to having to buy a new phone...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I had a small payout from Quidc0 so I've made a £7 overpayment. Our total overpayments for 2021 are £2533 which I'm happy with given the unexpected costs we've had.
I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas. Today is operation tidy the house for Christmas... although as it's still two weeks to go until Christmas I don't know if it will stay tidyMortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30002 -
It certainly wouldn't stay tidy that long in our house. Well done on the OPs. They all make a differenceAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Happy 2022 everyone! I've been looking at my end of 2021 figures and we managed to repay £9500 off the mortgage capital last year which included £2533 of mortgage overpayments
we now own 40% of the house based on how much we paid for it....although a similar house round the corner is currently on the market for £100,000 more than we brought ours for so we probably own more than 40% in reality.
I really want to fall in love with my house in 2022 as at the moment I would love to move to a bigger house and our finances won't stretch to buying a bigger house. So I have booked in for a bathroom quote later this month as having a fully functional bathroom will make a huge difference. Other than that we have to declutter and organise our storage better but I've been saying that for a year now :I have listed items on Faceb00k since new year and managed to sell a couple of items so that's progress. Next job is another tip run and dropping a bag of clothes off at the charity shop

As we're hopefully having a new bathroom in 2022 we are putting overpayments on hold and just continuing saving. I don't think we'll add much to our savings this month as I have been doing some sales shopping but the aim will be to save £300 a month from Feb. If we can save £4000 in 2022 I'll be happy. Hopefully in 2023 we'll be able to do a mix of overpayments and work on the house.

I've caught COVID so I had to cancel my bathroom design appointment
it may have been just as well as it now looks like we will have to spend a couple of thousand repairing the roof. The joys of home ownership!

Ouch Becky - not what you want at all. Hope you are feeling better. Hope the roof doesn't turn out as expensive as you fear.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well we are all recovered from COVID now. In the end only DD and myself caught it. She just had a bit of a cough at night and was sneezing but I had a sore throat, cough, runny nose, sneezing, tiredness etc we ended up doing to the full 10 days isolation as I was still testing positive on lateral flow tests until day 11. Anyway it's now nice to be out and about....we took the kids to a national forest to have a run around as soon as we were free
After not having much luck on eBay and Faceb00k marketplace I've decided to give vinted a go. I've sold 4 items so feeling quite positive about it. I especially like the fact that the buyer pays for postage and you just have to print the label off and drop off at a Hermes or yodel drop off point. I haven't tried cashing out my funds yet so I'm hoping that's easy too! I have sold a couple of bundles on Faceb00k too so very slowly clearing things out. I sorted out two of my clothes drawers yesterday and have a bag for a charity shop and a bag for recycling.Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30001
