We're now back at home after our week away. We stayed in a caravan on the west coast of Scotland and whilst the weather wasn't great we still had a lovely time. We visited lots of castles, a farm park and the beach. Everyone had a great time and I got to have fish and chips at the beach  The only thing I didn't enjoy was the car trip back as it was stop start on the motorway with two squabbling children in the back of the car. It was bliss when they finally both fell asleep

Now we've spent all our money going on holiday I'm looking at ways of saving money in September. On the whole I wash our clothes at 40c so my aim for next week is to wash everything which is only lightly dirty at 30c. I'm also going to start tackling our overspend on food. We've eaten so much rubbish on holiday that I feel motivated to start cutting down on the amount of treats the kids have. The only issue is that my DS has become fixated on having sweet stuff so I'm going to be in for a bumpy ride but it needs to be done. I just want us all to be healthier and happier.

Glad you got to enjoy some time away. I think this time of year can be a great resetting goal opportunity

I've had a small Quidc0 pay out so I've paid another £12 off the mortgage  :) so far in 2021 we have overpayed by £1900. I don't think we'll manage my target of £3500 in overpayments this year as I want to start topping our savings back up. The dreaded restructure word has been mentioned at DH's work so we want to be prepared incase of redundancy.

The shoes are polished, the uniform is ironed and the school bag is packed. I think we are all set for back to school  :# I'm feeling really anxious about tomorrow but trying to hide it as I don't want to make DS anxious....I'm really hoping his first day back goes well and that he gels with his new teacher and class. Fingers crossed.

Anyway our regular overpayment has gone out. Now that DD qualifies for her 30hrs free childcare we have upped our regular overpayment to £310  :) I have also make a slow start (or should that be restart) on the decluttering. I took a bag of clothes to the charity shop and listed a couple of bits on Faceb00k.

Back to school has gone ok. DS said that there were some good bits but as usual we can't get much out of him  :D

Had a very expensive week....between the vets for the cat and the dentist for me I've spent £250  :'( the rest of September is going to have to be a cheap one!

I've overpayed another £316 (our £310 regular overpayment and £6 payout from QuidC0). Our mortgage balance is now below £135K  :) I can't wait for the day our mortgage balance is below £100K but I think that will take another 3 years so a bit to go  :D
I need to sit down with DH and have a think about our future plan for overpayments. I now need a dental implant (going to be at least £2700..ouch) and we still haven't had our bathroom redone, plus DH wants a new to him car. Money just seems to be draining out currently without any extra coming in (what's a payrise? My cost of living increase hasn't matched inflation in the last 10 years......). I keep saying it's time to tighten our belts but then I keep spending...but it's a new month and another month to try again
