just got notification that the money I am owed for thee freelancing work I did is going to be paid today - that means another £600 into the coffers this month which means we stand a chance of getting thru to the end of the month.
854 left to last the month and by the time all the expenses have gone thru (which I had thought were all going to bounce and incur bank charges) there is 200 left. So should go into next month with 200 float plus the credit cards not been hammered like I had thought.
end of this month I am due to pick up 825 and a few pence so 1025 to last next month and get the bills paid. Doesnt look like I can pay the council tax arrears off in one go so I will need to fone them and ask them to restructure the debt.
I can do this and get back on an even keel - going to take me till end of April to be back just paying for stuff via bank account ie credit cards will be used for the rest of this month and next but then they are going to be frozen into a block of ice so I need to plan ahead to be able to use them.0 -

Things are looking a little bit better than they did when you posted a few days ago. At least you might get through the next couple of months without adding to the credit cards.
The main problem that I see here going forward is the lack of contribution from your OH. You seem to be shouldering the whole burden, not only of the debt, but of everyday living expenses, groceries et and on top of that you are expected to provide presents for his family. All of this seems very unfair and unsustainable on your salary. It is of course your choice, but subsidising someone else who won't even make an attempt to bring any money in to the house, by doing such a simple thing as making a claim to his previous employer, is holding you back from making progress with your own life. I know we are all different but I would be very resentful of this situation. I hope you can find some way of resolving things.0 -
April will come round quick. You are doing well and its a great idea to freeze the cards if you dont want to cut them up just yet. Make sure you get yourself straight before thinking long term but a regular income from you will make it seem more manageable and it will get easier as time goes on.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213
Mortgage Jan 18- 77224 May 25- just under 65k
June 25 Debts in my name only £5170. DH can't keep track...0 -
Well done on the freelance money coming in , thats going to make things much easier.
Also glad you sold the tent - once you get one sale it motivates you to get selling.
Your OH probably is going to need your assistance with his claim , so try and schedule a time with him when you can both complete it.
Keep going..and posting as that will motivate you to make progress.0 -

I am resentful of the situation and have been for years - I'm sick of feeling trapped and him doing next to nothing to contribute or help and I've been living like this so long I cannot see a way out and even feel guilty when I think of it. We've been together 18 years in total, the OH has worked for just 6 of them and only contributed anything into the household expenses for 2 years of that time.
My kids grew up watching the imbalance of how we live and ended up hating the OH. They have both moved out now to make their own lives and studiously avoid him when the call or come home to visit, I think this is so they do not end up saying what is in their mind.
I veer between indifference to him to acceptance to not expecting anything better from him - basically I've been worn down with all of this over the years and cannot see how to make change or even know that I want the hassle of doing so now.0 -
It's easy for us to say 'tell him to sort it or get out' but not easy to do it. What I would say is that you deserve to be happy and you deserve to be treated with respect. Also, given your immediate actions to sort the debts, you are strong
