got a cheque from ex-OH yesterday from his payout - and more than he promised so 5000 about to hit my account and time to sit down and decide what to do with it. I havent spoken with him to ask why it is more than he said it would be as it would be an awkward conversation to have but need to get it paid in and cleared so I can start making some decisions.
I became a granny again yesterday - ex OH youngest daughter (whom I treat as my own) gave birth to twins so I'm nipping over to see them tomorrow after work and will need to get a little present so that will be a bit of a spend - all ok though - I've got £65 in cash that is untouched to last the month plus another £100 in the grocery fund so no worries about getting thru the month. I like having the piece of mind that I can manage, I cant remember things being this settled and secure and safe - I'm not worrying about being evicted because of rent arrears or a summons for late payment of Council Tax …. cant believe I spent so many years living like I did - what a numpty!0 -
Everything seems to be going ok for you and great the payout was a bit more than expected. I would keep it in emergency savings for now or maybe start a F and F pot.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Been a funny month or so - still at work at the local branch and going well - love being home quickly and having some balance of life and settled with the people that work there and role, that part of my life is working well.
Grandbabies went back into hospital after a week - neither of them were putting on weight and ended up on feeding tubes and in special care. DGS ended up having surgery on a stomach issue and is still in there after getting an infection (hopefully out in the next week fingers crossed) and DGD has an issue with feeding that means she has to have special bottles and takes an age to feed/ wind but she is slowly putting on weight now and is home. Mom and dad are struggling, practically one baby at home now and another in the hospital 7 miles away from home so travel and hospital parking and so on. I've ended up 'loaning' them 1000 to take the pressure off - pay some bills as dad doesnt get paid for unauthorised time off and maternity pay doesnt go very far - dont care what anyone thinks of me, it was the right thing for me to do. I just want my grandbabies home and healthy now - and life for everyone to settle down a bit.
Nothing good to say at the moment - life is work and fone calls or visits and sleep and then do it all again. Roll on things picking up soon0 -

I don't think anyone here would say you've done the wrong thing. You know the true value of money and that's how you've exercised your judgement. I'm just so happy for you that you could do it.
I hope everything turns round for the babies super quick. I'm sure it will - they love scaring us. And where they are so small its soon like nothing was wrong. Keep going. It will stop being so manic soon but right now you are needed xxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

I agree - you didn't to anything wrong. I imagine that most of us would do the same.
