Restaurant demanding money not owed

Anyone think it might be a good idea for OP to ask folks for copies of their receipts, before they all get lost/thrown? It's easy enough to snap a photo with a phone and send it over. Might help later on if the restaurant decide to take it further.0

Hope someone can advise
On Monday, she had a text from a guy who said that he was the manager, saying that she owed £250 and had 24 hours to pay or he’d start court proceedings. He then rang her up, said t?
If anyone texted me threatening proceedings on the first contact of any dispute they would not find me in any hurry to either engage or cooperate

I don't understand why the bill wasn't settle by everyone at the same time. Sounds like a recipe for disaster0

Explain nicely, that you feel the bill was accurate, that it was paid in full, and you won't be entertaining any more discussion on the subject unless written proof is provided to the contrary.
What's the worst that can happen? You don't go back to a restaurant that is, poor at best.
Legal threats for £200 aren't particularly realistic.0 -
Ask for a detailed bill- that will show how he gets his total due.
Compare that with your spreadsheet of what each person had.
That should sort out where the difference lies e.g more main meals that your party number. Has somebody else's bill been added to your party?0 -

Especially with cash. What's to stop somebody looking like they are paying the cashier, but actually they are asking for directions to somewhere / commenting on the food / chatting them up? What's to stop the cashier pocketing the money?23 people paying separately..........recipe for confusion.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Ummm, no one think about a service charge?
Obviously we are not talking about £250 but 10/15% is perfectly normal for large groups.
Nobody ever factors that in and just pays for what they eat leaving a someone to pick up the whole charge.
Large groups always cause issue, some people will try and underpay, some will order drinks at the bar but put it on the table bill, most won't factor in a service charge. Some will even try and pay nothing claiming to 'already chipped in my money '.0 -
