'shafting' or just adjusting to reflect the current wholesale prices in an attempt to stay in business.. ?niktheguru said:Looks like symbio will be getting a barrage of new customers now neon reef are shafting all their customers with massive price increases, this is going to get interesting again......

Yes of course that, completely understand why they did it, was long overdue, but no doubt the customers will feel shafted as its an incredible increase, but was good while it lasted.MWT said:

Trustpilot's likely to be a lot busier in the near future then, with considerable hissing, booing, and heckling from the stalls,no doubt.
Yes though Symbio are just about the worst imaginable supplier, maybe worth remembering that not everyone has the choice to use anything other than the very cheapest available supplier no matter how bad they are.

I was expecting a large increase when I received their email yesterday, but not as hefty as 50%! I received a hassle free and responsive service from NR, so it is a wrench to leave them. I've taken a fixed deal to 31/5/22 with Symbio, whilst aware of the negative stories about their service, which has an unbelievable price - Unit rate of 12.052 and 10p per day standing charge. How can they possibly be cheaper than NR was? I don't believe they can for a year - even a few months doesn't seem likely -so I'm prepared for some interesting times.niktheguru said:

Just do everything you can to avoid building up much of a balance as it can take months to get it back through the SoLR process if they fail...jrio said:How can they possibly be cheaper than NR was? Symbio are going to collapse under the strain of all these new ex Neon Reef customers signing up. I hope no one cyberbullies them when things go wrong

To be fair to them their sign up process has become incredibly quick and clear now. They have emailed a tonne of paperwork clearly demonstrating how they work and answering common questions. The problem is most people don’t ever even read the faqs and terms do they, but then go complaining whenever they are unhappy.
it is laughable that they’ve written they aim to reply to emails within 24hrs….more like 3 weeks.
For any new people signing up, make sure you choose the fixed direct debits. That way you’ll minimise their ability to overcharge you and build a huge credit.
who knows how long symbio will last. Just when you think it’s the end, they keep going!4 -
