They'll be fine as long as they have a fixed DD and submit readings religiously on the last day of the monthdevondiver said:

Been with them four months - same situation with fixed direct debit and I submit figures without fail on the last day of the month along with pictures, although I'm not sure that makes the slightest difference. I am within a tenner of having paid the exact sum due - built up a small credit balance during the two months I was paying the higher winter amount and this is being very slowly reduced as my summer usage slightly exceeds the payment they are now taking. The statements they send include pointless estimates that don't really mean a thing if you're on the fixed DD, but they provide a bit of amusement each month.Petriix said:Ok. I've done the crazy thing and signed up for Symbio. Supply goes live on 5 June. I'm fairly confident that I can keep on top of things by carefully managing them. I've opted for the summer/winter fixed DD payments which should hopefully avoid their crazy predictions.
What's the accepted wisdom for the dates to provide opening and subsequent meter readings?
I was planning to give the opening reading on the day of the switch then on the last day of each month.

I submit readings on the last day of the month and a nice picture of the meter. Never makes any difference. I know some very knowledgeable posters say to go on a fixed dd but I am just too worried when the day of reckoning comes I will find myself in a bigger mess. ย In fact I will now thinking of getting out early and paying the ยฃ30 fee and going with a more reputable company.ยspot1034 said:

Here's hoping your right. But the multiple posts about unilateral changes to higher tariffs, persistently ignoring actual meter readings, obfuscation regarding 'smart' meters, threats and numerous other blatantly dishonest practices do not bode well.Swipe said:

I'm still waiting for my Ofgem stipulated 'compensation' 6 months on from my official complaint and following the Ombudsman process to the letter.
So for all those customers who think the ombudsman will sort everything out - be prepared for a very long wait, probably ending in disappointment when Symbio ultimately folds.ยI'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a self-satisfied pessimist0 -
I hoping to have completed the sale of my house and moved to my other house which I'm on EDF at by late summer so can't imagine I'll be more than ยฃ50 in credit to Symbio and ยฃ30 of that will go on the exit fee.devondiver said:

I was I was pleasantly surprised that my polite email reminder sent a few weeks ago stating they were getting close to the 6 weeks post switch deadline to producing my final bill without needing to compensate was coming up. They have written back apologising, saying theyโve referred it to the relevant team for my final bill and said it will include the ยฃ30 compensation as the time has now elapsed. Quite refreshingโฆโฆ
โฆโฆtho will they actually pay upโฆ..hmmmm.0 -
The main error in your ways is not going fixed direct debit. Would be much less painful if you did.CRISPIANNE3 said:

What has the Ombudsman had to say about them not paying?

I see after sending in my latest meter reading, their response includes:
โข Being a technologically friendly company and DCC compliant, we are currently rolling out Smart meters for all our customers. This will help in monitoring your electricity usage and billing. We will be in touch about how you can apply for Smart meters for free.
Of course, they also told me that the variable tariff (SE03 v16) I only switched to in Mayย is finishing at the end of this month! Two months is a short time, even for Symbio - though their latest fixed price tariffs look as if they will save me some money..
ย โข We believe in securing your data and personal information; we will soon be launching the two-factor authentication with the facility for an OTP/ One Time Password system.
ย โข We are rapidly expanding our services and Symbio Energy is proud to introduce the Gas Supply Services to all our customers by October 2021
It will be interesting to see their gas tariffs. I have noticed many firms make it much harder to sign up to gas only tariffs instead of electric/dual fuel ones.
Now all I need to do is complain so my bills get corrected for all the various tariff changes..0
