Ive managed to do this too using the previous renew tariff page they sent me - not had the confirmation email yet though so will be interesting to see what happens.carpy said:found the tariff on their site (not on energy club) as it's expired 31/5/21 so i doubt very much they will honour it!!!
however signed up myself for it so will be interesting to see what they do!!!
Looks like they may be getting themselves in a mess by not providing a new link.

That why I've gone down the variable monthly direct debit route with them. No chance of building up credit or debit. One of their better options if you can afford it in winter.MWT said:
Just do everything you can to avoid building up much of a balance as it can take months to get it back through the SoLR process if they fail...jrio said:How can they possibly be cheaper than NR was? noooooooooo!! your first payment will be a big one as they'll overestimate your usage. Then when you supply your actual meter reading it is true they will subtract the overestimated usage on the next bill, but on the same bill the following months usage will be overestimated AGAIN, so you're basically giving them 1-2 months advance payments. The fixed direct debit is better every time.Mr_K said:

HI. I thought if you gave your estimation, they estimate your monthly DD on this figure? I was meaning, if you told them on sign up you use 2000 units per year, they will say £23.33 per month. My understanding is they will take £23.33 that first month.niktheguru said:

I do admire your optimism, have you read any of this thread regarding Symbio and their "estimates"?.SPOWER said:HI. I thought if you gave your estimation, they estimate your monthly DD on this figure?
If you haven't youd best prepare for an unpleasantness when your bill arrives.

I'm returning to Symbio from NR and selected variable DD. My reasoning was that my electricity consumption is pretty constant throughout the year. I could see that my projected fixed summer DDs would be insufficient for the summer period and I felt Symbio would see this and increase my DD and on top of that, further increase it during the winter period which would be unnecessary. At least with variable monthly DD I know that I shouldn't be paying any more than 2 months usage in advance. We'll see.

In my experience symbio were pretty good when it came to changing the direct debit with my fixed monthlies. They would wait until there was about 50 quid debit, and then increase the DD for 3 months and then reassess. It was actually one of the things they did well.2
