The Lidl 4pk Nixe Tuna Chunks in brine have undergone a few changes.

Last time I purchased I noticed a new packaging design wrapper and the individual tins no longer had a paper label.

This time I purchased and the ring pull lids have gone, so now require a can opener.

As I actively buy tins with ring pulls due to disability I am disappointed. Tuna can be expensive so i've got to decide which is more important, price or accessibility. I'll definitely be looking at what the other supermarket brands offer as John West is definitely too expensive.

Have Lidl's dark chocolate rice cakes disappeared from the face of the earth?

Though I saw some milk chocolate and yoghurt covered rice cakes in the free from section. Though there are two mini packs in each one, not the three in the 'normal' version

I've decided I'm not going to buy Aldi premium sausages any more.
    The skins are thick.
Had some Tesco Lincolnshire yesterday and they are far superior.
So we've dropped a brand and decided it's not worth it for this.
Funnily enough, sausages and chipolatas are one of the very few things we don't buy from Aldi and Lidl.  Or Waitrose or any other supermarket for that matter.

We've always found local butchers best, but sausages are always very much a personal choice,  aren't they.

I'm seduced by the meat content stated on packaged sausages. :)
e.g. Tesco Finest pork sausages have 97% meat. I appreciate that 'meat' could be somewhat specious :o
Butchers sausages aren't labelled like that.
    Wonder why not?
Good point. They are supposed to show the meat content by law though, and I’m sure decent butchers would do that. There’ll be a label by the tray of sausages.

What amazes me is the popularity of brands such as Richmond, with a meat content barely above the legal minimum of 42% for pork sausages. Maybe they just taste good? Never tried them, to be fair.
In fairness to butchers generally, I've not looked recently.
Re Richmond - I wouldn't agree that they are the 'nation's favourite sausage'. Not in my opinion. But it's many years since I tried them.
Someone complained to ASA re their claim:
The information provided confirmed that their research showed that Richmond Sausages was the highest ranked brand in Value and Unit sales in the Fresh Sausage category in Great Britain for a 52-week period, including July 2017.

I wouldn't even use them for sausagemeat stuffing.

Richmond sausages are bloody horrible. My friend works for a supermarket, and when they are on offer, they get bought by many customers.

I rather have quality over quantity.

Read somewhere that Richmond's sausages are more expensive per meat/kg than some premium sausages with double the pork content

I agree.  They’re junk.  But people keep buying them because for some reason they trust the name. And probably by the same people who look down on Aldi and Lidl!

I would like Richmond put on their ingredients "58% rubbish 42% pork".

Also most premium sausages are gluten free as more meat content less filler/rubbish in them

    New product at Lidl:

    - Alpro Soya Yogurt (500g) - £1.25. I have a feeling that despite being a branded product, this is quite a good price even for the plain variety.

It is, and I paid £1.70 in Tesco yesterday.

Also, the Aldi "Soyummy" Soya Yogurt has returned.   500g for 89p
  • The fake magnum on stick icecreams are proving very popular with youngest at half term.
Morrison’s have similar fakes at 3 for a pound but one is mint chocolate. Youngest will be conducting tests....
