Hopefully not, 6 pts and a £200 fine …
Penalties
You can get 6 penalty points and a £200 fine if you use a hand-held phone when driving. You’ll also lose your licence if you passed your driving test in the last 2 years.
You can get 3 penalty points if you don’t have a full view of the road and traffic ahead or proper control of the vehicle.
You can also be taken to court where you can:
be banned from driving or riding
get a maximum fine of £1,000 (£2,500 if you’re driving a lorry or bus)Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
I'm another that hopes they've been cancelled. I have some sympathy with people caught speeding just over the limit and in those cases, a course is a good idea because in many cases it comes from a lapse in concentration. There's no excuse for using a handheld mobile when driving - it's a deliberate decision to do so. Any points, fines or bans are entirely deserved, the harsher the better.0

Anyone caught on their phone while driving should have their phone destroyed right there and then on the spot, PLUS the 6 points and fine.
That would scare most people off using their precious phones.0 -
I pretty sure they no longer offer driver improvement courses for mobile phone use any longer and have not for a while, TTC hasnt offered them since it became an endorsable offence. Although drink drivers are offered course for a reduced ban, i think that is more of a concious decision to drive as much as a mobile phone use if your caught drink drive you do the time in my opinion.0

I'm not sure a course would make any sense - everyone knows you shouldn't be using a handheld phone in a car. With bluetooth kits an option on any car made in the last 10+ years, and standalone hands free kits for £10, there's really no reason that people are still doing it.0

I think it's interesting reading peoples comments on topics like these, there are so many people so as many differing opinions on these matters.0
