i borrowed mine from the library, as i do most of the cookery books i look at then just copy the recipes, the one i put in was for an all in one fruitcake, its mainly just everyday family recipes but there is a bit of reading to it too

I bought this a few weeks ago in Tesco for £12.97 - if you can get it cheaper elsewhere - I can't do online shopping - cash only household.

We LOVE this book. I've made Bilabong stew (multiple quantities in the slow cooker), the most amazing fish pie - not the cheapest thing in the world but fantastic, fork biscuits (multiples so we have loads for the week), all in one fruit cake - made it to the recipe (rose beautifully then sank to 1 inch when it cooled. tasted lovely though). and some other things I cant remember.

It's not just a recipe book. When you read it you get an idea of how important and comforting food can be in families.

I'm new to old style and I absolutely would not be without this book.

Love it, love it, love it.

p.s at the same time in Tesco bought the Tesco Junior cookery book that has kids food they can make (or get involved in making) through the year. So far, wonderful pumkin soup, naff chocolate rice crispie cakes.

Watch the measurements - imperial and metric don't always tally.
