Car reversing out of park space.

They should have looked.
You should have looked.
With a second or two's basic observation, either of you could have avoided this very easily.
They might have looked and had sight of the OP all the time. What we do know by the OP's own statement is they didn't see the vehicle or its reversing lights.0 -
Reminds me of the "It's my right of way, so should I move over or smash into the car coming towards me?" thread.0

Surely it’s the driver who should be looking to see if anyone is walking behind his car.
As explained, when I saw the car coming towards me I moved towards the end of the footpath.0 -

How fast was this car reversing down a drive, across a pavement, and onto a road, following another car emerging, to not be visible at all...?
The OP saw the first car, assumed it was the only car, and was wrong.
The other driver saw the first car go out, assumed it was still clear, and was also wrong.
Either could have prevented it. Neither did.0 -
I was just asking advice, wasn’t injured or going to even take it further.
It’s just I assumed when reversing anywhere you have to look around. If it be in a driveway or car parking space.
Good job I have a bit of fat on me and nothing happened to me.0 -

That doesn't mean nobody else has to look around as well.
As Gloomendoom pointed out, it's all very well maintaining after the impact that you were in the right, but it's better to avoid it completely...0 -
The car driver is 100% at fault. The footpath is for pedestrians, and it is entirely unreasonable to expect a pedestrian to look into every driveway just in case a vehicle is emerging.
However, the OP could have handled things better, i.e. moving out of the car's path instead of trying to outrun it. A good hard thump on the bodywork may also have helped.0 -

"It's my right of way. I might die enforcing it but at least I was in the right."
Remember though that the group of pedestrians automatically includes people who can't drive, temporarily or permanently. Many reasons for people not being able to drive would make it difficult for them to either notice the car reversing or respond appropriately if they did. Indeed, it sounds like the OP did attempt to get out of the way, they just weren't fast enough for the route they chose - unsurprising really...0 -
