Thank you for running this month's challenge, mothernerd :T
So.… last day of Feb - and not a NSD - £1.30 spend in Tesc0 this morning.
Damp day here, so it's a good job I've not got enough laundry to run a load.
Feb has seen quite a few items leave here (although nothing big) - vast majority for reuse/ recycle/ resale :T We have tentative plans for some work in garden later this year and I may gain some very pretty planters from my nan's house when we clear it for sale - I'd rather give my nan's estate money for them than donate them to a CS
We've managed to add a decent amount to our holiday fund, have started a new S&S ISA and reduced the 0% CC (I could pay it off, but the money is sat earning interest at the mo)
Best bit of news for the greent household is that my OH has a new contract - starts tomorrow and is 4 months long. Means staying away Mon- Fri, which isn't fun (and means I run around like an insect with a blue backside at times) but it's work :j: (and I know staying away isn't fun for him too)
Gratitudes: new job for OH starting tomorrow, good use of vouchers in Feb, steps made towards a cleaner and tidier house!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Been absolutely terrible at checking in on here this month sorry. Still I have well and truly learnt I do better with my no spending if I do come in and update, February was a tough month.
Hope everyone is doing well and I will try harder in March xx0 -
Hi all:j
Mothernerd Thank you for the February thread and the wonderful quotes. I've gained so much in every way.
I'm checking in with 15/18 NSD and I've managed to add a little to my savings too.
Thanks to all for the support and wisdom.:T
I'm looking forward to the March challenge.
Enjoy the rest of your day. Xx0 -
Thank you for running another great challenge Mothernerd xx
Successes have included coming in at the lowest grocery food shop in probably a year or 2, downshifting back to Aldee, DH offering to pay for his own lunch if there is stuff in but he chooses to eat fast food (£50 of the food budget on this in Feb), getting the roof fixed and paying back all but £300 of the money DPIL lent us (rest will be cleared with end of March pay), clearing over 20 frogs
Today I am grateful for 1) the NST challenges 2) having enough to pay the planned chunk off the roof loan even with a c**k up with my tax code this month costing me £200 3) potato waffles with melted cheese
Greent - Congratulations to you OH on his new contractSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Thanks so much to Mothernerd and all of the turtles. Sorry I've been awol but I'm looking forward to catching up on all of your posts tomorrow. To be honest I haven't counted my NSDs this month but I have been pretty good at not spending between Monday-Thursday. Pay day has been and gone and my savings total is looking very healthy so I am pleased.
Have a great day everyoneStudent loan £5655

Mothernerd - Thanks for running this month's thread.
greent - Great news about DH job.
NSD today - 22/20.
Went for a walk in the park, my usual lap. Spoke to some people which is nice.
Did manage to cut down my food bill by £21.58.
Did my best to try and keep my general spending down.
Had to submit my meter readings for my electricity. Was high this quarter. Had to change my tariff as it is ending in March. The new one will start in April after my current one ends.
Going to be chilling out for the rest of the day also going to be doing self care.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -
greent - congrats to your OH, shame he has to stay away though.
mothernerd - it wasn't the same author, I will see if our library has those though. The one I read was set in a row of cottages near Pendle Hill and I feel the title was something to do with a dog. One book I would recommend looking for in the library is 'A Year of Wonder' it is by an American author and is a fictional story based on the plague village in the peak district (Eyam), I loved the book which I read after my first visit to the village, I've been back a couple of times since and find the whole story fascinating but incredibly sad. I also count 'The Winter Ghosts' by Kate Mosse as one of my favourites.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

End of February. 11 NSDs - not as many as I wanted but we have spent very little on food due to using up. Freezers are looking lots better but a way to go yet. Managed a bit of decluttering but again a long way still to go. Didn't do too well on the exercixe or weight loss.
Thanks a lot for running the challenge and all the encouragement, Mothernerd.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Thank you mothernerd for February and for all your encouragement.
Today I am grateful for a good day at work, for a mild day, for getting everything I wanted in liddle, for doing a workout, for finalising a couple of important things with dh, for popping out with dd after school, for the library, for leftovers, for spreadsheets (never ever thought I'd say that!!!)
March is here, in case you missed it earlier:
