  • So I took the plunge and made the payment to the credit card today £401.64  random amount but tidies the balance down to £1750!
It would have been so easy to fritter some of that money especially with our spending account seeming tight this month but I know I've done the right thing throwing it at the credit card. Feeling :( at our lack of 'play' money but also proud :T that I made the right choice and reduced our debt that little bit further. :j

Happy Saturday fellow Debt Busters

  • Well that's Monday out of the way, managed a NSD today excluding a planned DD.
I'm even putting off booking Mr FTD's birthday treat as that would mean spending money, although this may bite me if the cost of flights go up!

I'm really struggling with staying positive at the moment, fingers crossed the week improves.

  • Nearly a week has gone by but there is nothing exciting to report from the FTD house.

Sadly it looks like I will have to bite the bullet and get a balance transfer for Mr FTD's card, there is no way we can find £1750 from our next 3 months budget, we'll pay down £750/800 if we're lucky I think.

  • Worryingly I just received 2 texts from the bank asking if I had used my card at 2 places that I don't ever shop.
I've called them and confirmed that I do not recognise the transactions so of course they will be cancelling my card and sending me a new one but in the mean time I feel sick that someone has got hold of my card details, it makes me worry what other information do they have? Do they know my name, my address?

On the positive side, with my new being super careful with Money approach I check my accounts 2/3 times a day so if the bank hadn't have spotted it, I would have quite quickly.

Good they spotted it. I spotted a large unusual transaction on our joint account about a year ago for around £950 on Eurostar of all things.i check our account daily too and on ringing my bank they said my DHs card has been used for not only this but the fraudsters had tried to withdraw several even larger amounts (thousands) to send to other banks but thankfully the fraud department spotted it and stopped them.

It happened around the same time as my DH has been to a massive exhibition at the NEC so I suspected his card had been cloned either by them using phone software to get the details of his card or he was not so careful as he claimed to be. If you have been to a crowded place they can use phones to copy the data off your card or skimming as they call it. Unlikely to get your address too though. I went and got a RFID purse for me and a wallet for him which should stop that.

  • Lucky the fraud department caught those larger amounts before they went out enthusiasticsaver!
We haven't really been anywhere recently, I've only used it in 2 large retailers in the last couple of weeks so maybe they've had their machines bugged? Fortunately the bank stopped the transaction before they took any money so that makes me feel a bit better. Thank goodness it's the weekend, it's been a stressful week by all accounts!
