Wobbling my way out of debt

Yesterday we spent money at the supermarket when we went to pick up the prescription, today we need to do our weekly shop so won't be a NSD, should be a few more NSD's to come as we head towards payday.
This has been our first full month on a new budget, it feels like we've cut it a little too tight but needs must if we are to get rid of the card and loan. Next month we have a birthday to celebrate so we will need to tweak the budget accordingly.
We have however managed to put £150 in to savings, £140 in to a holiday and weekend away fund and made an overpayment on the credit card of £202. :TWobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

So we did end up spending money today, we bought a mirror for our spare bedroom, we've been needing one for ages. I use the room to do my hair and get dressed in the morning, so was an essential we needed. I took some money out of our savings account for this, only £25 with a discount so don't feel too bad about it.
I also bought a couple items of clothing for work, I haven't bought anything new for ages, I used some birthday money that my inlaws gave me so technically not included in my spend day.
Here's to the final week before pay day again, our weekly food shop took us over our £400 limit yesterday...this really needs reviewing as that is a LOT of money for 2 people!Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

So where are you doing your food shopping if you have gone over budget i hope not the big supermarkets???
I tend live on my todd and do all of mine using discounters less a trip once a month too the local butchers. Discounters like b and m and home bargains and herons have a stigma attached too them but i can get everything from there for 10-20 percent less than what i would pay in a large supermarket
What also is your monthly shopping budget???0 -

We budget £400 for everything so toiletries, food and drink. As I mentioned earlier in my diary, we're not being as frugal as we could be.
We do shop at a big supermarket, we only have L!dl in our town, we've tried it and didn't like it. We used to shop at Ald! years ago but that closed down.
I think I will review how we do the shop so do a bulk order on the things we buy every month (non perishables) and then monitor the perishables spend. I'd be happy to get this budget down to £350.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

Try a discounter like B and M, Home bargains or even Poundland for the non perishables ie toiletries/cleaning products/washing powder etc etc and it will save you money. I would also re your shopping try your local butcher for meat i bulk buy mine and i pay 20quid for 2.5kg of mince beef, 23quid for 5kg of chicken, and 10quid for 2.5kg of beef sausages.0 -
Thanks Scott, might have a look at going back to the butchers but we don't have a big freezer so unable to buy meat in bulk. Regarding toiletries and cleaning products, we're unable to use cheap brands due to allergies so we usually buy the same brands online or at the supermarket. I also have an expensive shampoo addiction which I'm currently kicking by using up the many ones I have already.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time
