Wobbling my way out of debt

Oof it's been a week and I haven't posted, hope all is well for you lovely people.
So, it must be time for a confession...
I spent some money on another piece of furniture yesterday, we are both currently working from home and due to the nature of our jobs, our work equipment was taking over our living space, this was really getting me down as we spend a lot of time in the same room and it felt like there was no escape from work.
We rejigged some existing furniture, moved some bits around and ended up needing a new bookcase/unit.
I can justify this:- we are due to be paid a little extra this month (enough to cover the cost of the furniture)
- I had budgeted money this month for additional garden furniture but was too indecisive and hadn't bought anything
- the bookcase matches some of our other furniture, it is good quality and will last for years to come, finally replacing some old flatpack furniture that we have had for nearly 10 years
- the rejig means we can put away most of our work stuff, making our house feel like a home again (cheesy but true)
- did not incur extra debt to make this purchase
I do have a small feeling of guilt as I genuinely hate spending money or worry that we're being wasteful or irresponsible.
Have a good week all! It'll probably be quiet from me as I'm just coasting along until pay day so no exciting news to share and there definitely won't be any sneaky big purchases going on as the money has already been spent.

Sounds like a justified purchase to meDFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Thankfully DFW doesn't stand for 'don't spend money' 😉
I think it's good we are spendthrifts in the old-fashioned sense👌
I need new trainers, a new phone, a new coffee machine and a Tupperware box for my bread; spent a month dropping fathers day & anniversary hints (y'day &today), got sweets and gin; in the middle of my diet! Bless, I think DW is, by her own admission, on another planet at the minute😂
Health to your furniture FTD!
FTR, i'm going to have to hold off on my purchases until post payday; can only just cope with this instant coffee: cupboard full of pods, bought on offer, then my machine broke!Admin for Tilly Tidy to £1825 DFW challenge: 2021

Thanks for stopping by, I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes to have the option of putting away our work equipment.
I hear you @IrishSean there's plenty of things I need, I just have an aversion to spending money on myself, I would rather buy other people things they need or want. Gin and sweets in the reserves for cheat day or within the 'naughty' allowance (if you have one)
Happy Anniversary to you (it's our anniversary in August, who knows what the world will look like then?) I'll put some money back to make sure we can enjoy a nice takeaway from the local pub and maybe a trip to the coast...proper celebration is deferred to next year.
I'm funny with coffee, I've settled for Nescafe sachets for now, I'd love a bean to cup machine though but we're limited for space on worktops in our small kitchen so holding off until we move house.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

The furniture sounds like it was much needed! But I guess it’s actually a good thing you feel a tiny bit guilty about it. I’m very much the same as you and much prefer buying things for other people than myself.0

Ty! Was a quiet anniversary, I drank half the gin last night and had a 'diet' hangover (which was ironically 'full fat headache & ilness', lol). I never remember I can't drink when doing diet & exercise😱
I'm trying to book DW in for a haircut with a top stylist she's been to b4, although she was delighted with the lockdown cut I gave her! I'm with you, i'd sooner spend on DW or kids now than myself. I see ppl with £100 p/m clothing on SOAs and think, wha? Really?!
Maybe i'm just officially a middle aged man without the gold jewellery & 2 seater, lol.
Keep to the plan Mrs, you're doing great!

HA I always wonder how many clothes these people have? I must be so low maintenance, I still have clothes from 5/6 years ago, although I have started to buy better quality clothes (you know the type that washes well)
I’ll join you on being middle aged 😂

Haha you are VW
I'm still in 'never again' mode so either i'm now as averse to booze as I am to debt or my hangover has entered 2nd day territory😂Admin for Tilly Tidy to £1825 DFW challenge: 2021
