  • Thought I'd pop in with a loan update, down to £6.1k now so next month we drop in to the £5k bracket :j and then March sees us in to single figures on the payments left number. So close yet so far.

  • Ooh this looks like a fancy new layout, glad my diary (if I can call it that) still exists, for some reason I thought it would disappear never to be seen again.

Hello again! One feature I don't like that your posts don't have the date on so I can't work out when they were iykwim. I think you're doing great. Your debt has only gone up due to others - not you. You've been powering it all down.
Have you worked out what sim only deal you want? If it's with the same network you can change a month early I think.
What's the obsession with TVs? As long as it does what we want ie let us watch Netflix we are happy. We wont replace this TV till it goes bang. And at 7 years old its imminent and I dread replacing it as I know how it works. I don't like learning the new bits and quirks. Is it about the sound quality? Xxxx
    Loan 1 £5200/£8000
    Loan 2 £300/£5800
    Total £5500/£13800

Thanks for popping by kitten!  Ah yes, the date thing is a little confusing although I think it's above the post.
I don't like to wish my life away but this time next year the only debt we should have is our mortgage, that day has been a LONG time coming and literally cannot come soon enough.
We recently replaced our TV, I don't tend to look much in to it, I leave the detail to MrFTD and then I tell him whether we can afford it or not, like you our old TV was 8 years old and the apps on it were so slow.

  • Another financial update in the world of FTD.  I've managed to remortgage our house, we were coming to the end of fixed rate, our new deal saves us £53 and I've done some research on our mobile phones which we can drop down to pay monthly sim keeping the handsets we've got, saving us a whopping £84 a month so in total soon we should be up £137 a month.
This will seem ridiculous to some people but I'm genuinely excited about seeing that amount of money again.  I've never not upgraded my mobile phone every year, this is the first time I will end a contract and keep what I've got.

AND... I'm not finished yet, I need to renew buildings and contents insurance and change my energy tariff, there are definitely some savings to be had there too.

Hope Storm Dennis isn't causing you debt busters too many problems this weekend.  It's worked in our favour as it has meant we have been at home for most of the weekend, meaning we haven't spent as much as we could have.
I'm currently researching home improvement ideas as we're hoping to finally get the house on the market this Spring so need to get it looking it's best (or better than it currently does).

Thanks kindofagilr, it's refreshing to know that I've got a much better deal and pay so much less per month for the phone.  There just isn't that much difference between mine and the latest handset so a complete waste of money to be upgrading it really.
