Just wanted to pop in and say Hi! My goodness you are powering through the loan!Try not to dwell on the added money to the CC. As you've said you are still way below what you have been in the past!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

hello - thanks for popping by my diary
surprised I hadn't noticed yours before, as you've stuck with it for a most of the year. I don't look for new diaries very often just now and again and we must have missed each other
I know how it feels to help relatives out - it is a choice but I think the right choice, and as you say if they don't pay back you know where to put them.
Good job to on putting off the car - you do need to have a reliable car, and there are advantages to selling a car before its had a wobble, but it doesn't sound the right time for you now or even until you are DF + have saved for it with your new found MSE mindsetI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long

Great diary, glad you’ve got you’re loan down so far, we’ll done. I like you struggle with the grocery shopping and really need to get it considerably lower, I’m going to look into batch cooking and freezing,
Good luck on the rest of your debt busting What’s meant for you will not pass you 😃

Thanks for popping by Fla and CMD, I've not made overpayments on the loan for a while but it's going in the right direction so I'm ok with that, I'm trying to get that card gone in a bid to get both debts gone by the end of next year, hopefully sooner if I can find some extra funds without cutting back too much.
Thanks for returning the visit Mark, it's tough to avoid the wobbles like new cars and other new things that I think I really need, turns out they're just WANTS and they need to stay that way for the time being.
Thanks for popping in darrannah, we've tried batch cooking and freezing but it doesn't seem to work that well for us, we're currently sticking to meal plans and buying things like meat that can do 2 meals instead of 1....seems to be going ok so far.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

It is tough to avoid the wobbles, particularly when you are used to giving into them (like me). Onwards and upwards (well hopefully downwards with the debt!) we will all get there in the end.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

We always used to give in to wobbles hence the previous consolidations and the mess we got ourselves in to, we would get a new tv every couple of years even though there was nothing wrong with what we've got.
We are looking forward to life after debt, even though it feels like forever away right now.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

Wow! Where did the month go? I've been lurking and not posting which is naughty.
We've had an expensive month as we had some time off work which means we were more spendy than normal.
Had a little win today, where I over estimate bills, I end up with a little buffer in the bills account - today I used some of that buffer to pay for my MOT.
I thought the car would fail the MOT and I would have to dip in to savings until I get paid next week but turned out I had enough in the buffer to cover it, I'm taking that as a win.
In other news, I've had a look at the budget for next month and I'm tempted to make my CC payment as soon as I get paid instead of waiting until later in the month and reducing the amount I pay off of it. I'll keep you posted.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

The final day of the month before pay day, I've updated my spreadsheet taken account of some additional bills that I need to pay this month including putting some money back for that big event at the end of the year (luckily I don't go crazy for that so I haven't got to put much money back)
I'm going to make my planned CC payment (double the minimum amount) tomorrow and see how the month pans out. Hopefully this will inspire me to keep the groceries/wasteful spending down and also encourage me to stick to the amounts I've budgeted for.
In other news, I've been gradually losing weight by eating better and now I want to step it up on the fitness side as Mr FTD is really good at going to the gym and is starting to see results of his efforts. I'm going to sign up to race at your pace tomorrow as I think the incentive of a medal or 2 will motivate me to keep moving.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

Evening all!
So, I did the sensible(ish) thing I paid £5.34 off the CC last night as that is what was left in my account prior to pay day today (usually I would have just wasted that)
This morning, I paid £130 off the card, I had budgeted for £185 but remembered a birthday that I have to buy for this month, if I still have £55 on the payment due date I can transfer it over.
Tomorrow I get to update my loan amount which I think should be £8260 which means next month we hopefully drop in to the £7k bracket - this is BIG news in the FTD household.
Back tomorrow for another update.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time
