  • Oh dear, it's been a spendy one in the FTD household.

    The accounts are looking poor:

Business account is low but the work has been pretty dry so no significant income there for some time.
Bills account, the buffer has gone down a bit as I've used this card to fund some skincare purchases and 2 bad lunches out (so bad this late in the month!!)
Savings account, this has been reduced as I took some money to buy a new coffee table, we considered getting something cheap to tide us over but Mr FTD convinced me it was a good idea to buy a piece of furniture that will stay with us for some time.
Days Out/Weekends Away account, this has taken a small hit following the birthday celebration, I'll top this up again over the next couple of months so that I can pay for our hotel outright when we go away in July
Spends Account, we're down to our last £10 before pay day - really need to review where the money goes from this account, it's allocated for food and fuel but I put around £700-£750 a month in here and it seems to just disappear, what are we actually spending it on.

I'll be getting the spreadsheet out later to update the budget and see how we're looking for June, I'll be back with an update.

  • Pay Day and it's a Friday!!
Spent some time doing some finance admin today.
My loan payment won't clear until Monday and I also need to pay off some of the CC then I really need to transfer the balance before the interest hits! I'll be back with updated numbers early next week.

  • The weekends just fly by don't they?!

We've had some lovely weather yesterday followed by some rubbish weather today. Spent far too much time procrastinating instead of getting things done!!
It's also been quite a spendy weekend, could possibly have avoided some of the expenditure but with the loss of my mother, I kind of had a you only live once mentality. I'm not talking crazy amounts of money, I mean impulse buying a £10 moisturiser for myself and buying Mr FTD some tops (in fairness he needed some new ones and they were 3 for £16.50)

I realised today that next payday, my biggest millstone (our consolidation loan) will finally be below £10K, it was £23K when we took it out. Trying not to wish my month away just to see that figure.
Back tomorrow with the all important numbers update.

  • Hi FTD,

Just popping in to say hello and I'm following along!! :) Well done on your pots and bringing your debts down so much so far.

Sorry to hear you have lost your mum, your doing great to keep going x
  • Thanks for popping in Princesspennies!

So lots of payments have gone out today and I've stopped by to update my numbers:

I'm going to pay £180 on Mr FTD's credit card I think before I transfer the balance over to my card to avoid interest being charged.
Our millstone (loan) is now down to £10,353 with 19 payments to go, hopefully less if we can ever afford to over pay on it. We both just want it gone but struggle with pulling the strings too tight.

So sorry for your loss. I think you’re doing really well paying down the debt x
  • How are we a week in to June already?!

The weather here is atrocious and it doesn't look to be improving as the weekend goes on so with the exception of the weekly grocery shop, I think it will be fairly low spend.
Might also use some vouchers and corporate discount to go to the cinema, feels like Mr FTD need to do something nice or at least a little different to our usual weekends. It's been a tough few weeks for us so this might give us a little spring in our step again.

    Happy Weekend All! :j

You are doing incredibly well! I’m a huge emotional spender and it’s easy when something like losing your mum would send that into a spiral. Sorry to hear of your loss. Did you try muscle food in the end? We use them and have never had issues, the meat is of good quality and when you order it doesn’t get taken from your account until 2 days before the delivery date
  • Thanks Mrsn!

I'm trying so hard not to spend money on unnecessary things.
We haven't tried Musclefood yet, I think we will at some point, once we figure out what we might like.
