Piglet27, I have seen the ads for Mu$clef00d and wondered whether it was good value. Would you recommend?

    Thanks, GTSS x

    Hi GTSS,
I think muscle food is great value. Chicken breasts especially, they are 100% meat (no gristle, skin, weird veins etc) Each breast is around 200g so easily feeds 2 adults or 3 children. The burgers/sausages are very meaty with hardly any fat (the pan is still dry after grilling) and very filling also slimming world friendly.

£16.40 in Aldi as needed eggs, celeriac, soup, mushrooms yoghurt, and salad leaves, bought some more 70%moser roth and quite enjoying the little portions, when I was breaking squares from a bar it could be anywhere between 2 and 6 squares.
Do I need it or just want it.

I've changed my shopping day back to earlier in the week now Christmas is over. I went yesterday and spent £38.84 (signature updated). Cupboards still full and freezer reasonably so. I will have to replace a couple of freezer things like hash browns and oven chips otherwise the HT won't know what to eat but we're good for meat and veg for a while.

The Grocery Challenge made Martin’s weekly email! :money:
PipneyJane, I got one of the £1 a meal books for Christmas and even with just one of me to cook for it's a disappointment. Portions are tiny!

I had a flip through one and wasn’t impressed. I’m certain the members of the Old Style Board could do better (and cheaper).

Two more spends to declare tonight. DH’s car needed petrol*, so I picked up my small shopping list and off we went to Mr T’s. £14.05 spent, mainly on yoghurts, mushrooms and peppers. We did try to come up with £50-worth of shopping, in order to get to the £50 threshold for the coupon for the 5p/litre discount on petrol but couldn’t get close. (The freezer is full and the pantry is too.)

We’re running low on freeze-dried instant coffee, but Mr T did not have the bag refills of their “Gold” coffee, only the much more expensive jars**, so off we went to L*dl. £7.62 spent in L*dl: £1.89 on a large jar of coffee, £3.99 on a Salmon En Croute, with the rest on squash and baked beans. (L*dl’s Simply beans are 22p a can).

The above brings our total spend to £38.06/£142.20, leaving £104.14 for the rest of the month.

    - Pip

    * We buy virtually all our petrol using my Tesco Clubcard Credit Card. Even if you’re only using it to collect points - and not pay - you still get double the usual points. (1 point per £1 instead of 1 point per £2)

** Haven’t seen the refill bags in over 3 months. Pity.

It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 25.5 spent.

    4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
    8 - 4 x 100g/450m skeins 3-ply dark green Wool Local yarn
    1.5 - sports bra
    2 - 100g/220m DK Toft yarn
  • £1.30 for a bag of sweets. A treat for dad who has been helping me with jobs (various). I ate some too, I won't deny it! Often I can 'pay' him in cold custard... But today the jobs were in the kitchen so it was not practical... Ergo... butter mintoes! Signature updated.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks
