Just tried to pay for my weekly shop and the card was declined! Has anyone heard anything?

No, Asda still take AMEX - must have been something else.0

Contactless?
My Amex has never worked contactless in Asda. Works fine chip and pin though. Same problem in some other stores, Wilkinson's springs to mind.0 -
Used it today, twice! Chip and PIN though, I agree contactless does not work.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. I always have an issue with Asda and Amex. i can never use contactless or self serve check outs even using chip and pin. If I go to a real check out person using chip and pin it works. Have mentioned to the local store several times but they weren't interested.0

Contactless never works (in Asda) for me, either. Chip & pin does.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

Same here, contactless never has worked. Odd.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

it is due to how Amex have implemented contactless. Chip and Pin should be fine though - in stores that accept AmexI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Amex have implemented contactless in a way that is not supported by all payment acceptance providers (the people who process the data gathered at the terminals you pay through). Depending on which provider a merchant uses, then Amex contactless may or may not be supported. Chip and pin always will be though.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

You say that, but Asda is the only place I've ever been that accept Amex but contactless doesn't work. I've never seen that anywhere else.0
