  • Day 17/21 - so close!

I start today with £18 in my purse.

The meal deal was LOVELY but a lot to get through, we don't normally have 2 courses let alone 3 but it was a nice indulgent treat.

    Breakfast: cereal
    Lunch: crackers & pate
Dinner: undecided, have a few options - will put it to OH when we get home and let him decide

We are visiting the pub at lunchtime again today so will spend on half a shandy there. Need to top up my oyster card for theatre trip tomorrow so that will be £10. Only other spends will be if I see any ys bargains.

  • With 4 days left of the challenge after today I feel this has been a little too easy this time so I'm definitely ready to reduce it down to £9 a day next month and see how I get on.

Having said that I have had a relatively quiet month with not much going on so let's see how £9 a day goes.

Yeah I’ve been wondering how I’ll do that neverending. I think maybe get £10 a day out the cash point but stick to £9 spending and save £1 towards every tenth day?

This time I’ve been withdrawing £10 each day, luckily there is a cash point right next to my building at work.

  • I am contemplating joining you on the cash front i must say. Im not sure if i have the willpower though and i dont think id get to a cashpoint every day with the kids. Well i could but it wouldnt be pain free. My budgeting is all over at the moment and im moving money round my pots a lot. A weekly cash allowance might be what i need then i can just monitor but otherwise ignore the banks. Keep posting and i may follow the trend when i get paid x

  • Maybe try weekly then neverending - whatever works for you. Or could you have £10 notes in an envelope at home and just transfer one to your purse each morning?

I've honestly found dealing with cash so much easier to stay in control as debit cards (for me) it's like you're not really spending it IYSWIM.

  • Saturday was day 18/21 - seems to have gone really quickly this time!

I started the day with £15 in my purse.

    Breakfast:toast
Lunch: Macdoalds on the way to the theatre - not very mse or very healthy!
    Dinner: tuna pasta bake

I really enjoyed the theatre trip with the family and everyone got along great which made a change! we stopped in a pub afterwards for half hour and I did have a glass of wine so after lunch and pub I ended the day with £5 in my purse. Odd change went towards my penny a day challenge.

    Sunday was day 19/21

Started the day with £15 in my purse.

Breakfast: omelettes - great way to use up some bits and bobs
Lunch: I did us a charcuterie type platter as we'd enjoyed the one we had with the meal deal
    Dinner: Salmon stir fry

Sundays is our "chores mixed in with lazing around" day so not much to report. Had to nip to the post office to pick up a parcel so topped up with catfood and some cleaning bits whilst I was out and about.

Caught up on a lot of our recorded TV so our planner is looking a bit lighter now!

    Ended the day with £5.

  • Day 20/21

I start with £15 - although I know I will need petrol on the way home (£10) and milk at lunchtime plus I may get myself a ticket for the big lottery tomorrow night but I'm undecided at the moment.

    Breakfast:cereal
    Lunch: chicken and mushroom pasta
Dinner: Quiche, new potatoes and veg

I have a few chores to do indoors tonight that I didn't get round to yesterday so that will keep me busy.

  • I have been slacking on the ebaying front lately - although my OH has done none! I think I'll have a dig around tonight and see what I can find and then list them tomorrow night. I never make very much from it but it's better than nothing and more importantly to me it clears some space in our house.
