    thanks again

Before i post the BLUE template how typical is it that this works and it is cancelled and goes no further?

If rejected, which I will assume is what they will first do, how typical would this be for this to go to court which I guess is most peoples' concern and again I would guess that is why most people pay up when they get a PCN.

    Hello again

I had an email reply back from the retailer who is asking for me to provide a copy of the PCN and email it to them I'll assume thats fine to go ahead and do this?

They also want a receipt, if possible, or a payment card details (this isn't possible as I paid in cash)

Email the PCN to show them the time & date and details, and tell them you paid cash, but to enable them to check their receipt records, reel off a list of what you bought and approx how much was spent. Think hard to recall even some minor detail, e.g. did you buy their stupendously gorgeous Milk chocolate bar with Pistachio, Almond and Hazelnut?!*

If you have a MyWaitys card it will have recorded the purchase.

And what if one does not have the receipt and cannot recall what one bought or indeed did not buy anything in that store?

then you cannot provide the proof they require and they will assume that you were NOT a customer unless you can prove otherwise

Then just supply the PCN and thank them for their customer service ethic and swift reply, and say you hope they will confirm cancellation as you & your family are currently boycotting the place, and can't wait to get back in there and buy some of their stupendously gorgeous Milk chocolate bar with Pistachio, Almond and Hazelnut!

Simply tell them you paid cash and you did not keep the receipts
as you did not expect to be penalised by their parking company

The retailer has replied with as I cannot provide receipt details they are unable to ask the branch if there is anything that they can do and have the notice cancelled. However, as a gesture of goodwill they are happy to arrange a gift card to send as reimbursement for the charge.

    What are peoples opinions?

To clarify I have not submitted the BLUE template letter from the NEWBIES section to Britannia's online form to dispute the PCN as yet.

Agree to the gift card, but don't pay the PCN.

Puts you ahead, if you ended up being sued and paying it if a Judge finally told you to, which is the ONLY time to pay any private parking charge, ever.

    Now send the blue template.

Meanwhile, how about popping into the branch and seeing if there's a nice manager there who will cancel it anyway...especially if you are standing there with a full trolley of shopping but pop to the CS desk before paying...! That would focus the local Manager's mind. If he/she refuses (and Waitrose staff are always lovely!) you could dump the trolley in protest...

Not joking. Do not mention that you've already complained to Head Office, of course.
