Just to remind you the history of the witch hunt for ex-German Nazy took a few years after the second WW was over.

I don't think the trials at the end of the war were because of the Nazy (sic) views on trade & economic policies....

If a business is going to move (a very big decision) and NI was in the frame why not ROI if one of the issues is Language.
I can’t see a good enough movement just to move within the UK unless you gamble on reunification.

That's what I was thinking, NI might make a good go-between (except it theres paperwork for where stuff might go), though it wont be a back door either way and its future is far from certain.
If doing any significant move it'd make more sense just moving to Eire for the stability.

    Hypothetical post.

Has anyone read the book Sapiens? IIRC he discussed a future break up of a.Scotland/uk and b. EU.

A lot of this was due to climate change increasing migration to southern Europe and N.Europe unwilling to take them in.

This lead to an eventual reform of a northern/western states European union and a Scandinavian (inc Scotland) union.

In this hypothetical situation where do you think the UK would look to, would it join one of these?

Would someone who voted leave mainly to stop FoM, find FoM more acceptable from just western Europe?

I started it, told everyone how life changing it was, then felt guilty when I didn't read past the first chapter. I will pick it up again. I think the thing with Harari is that he hits you with an amazing piece of insight at the beginning of the chapter and then labours the point at length so I will skip ahead a bit.

I assume you are going to take the same approach the next time that your fellow Leave supporter starts calling for the death penalty for anyone that disagrees with him?:rotfl:

    Why should I?
Are you seriously suggesting that I should agree with every leave supporter in every area or that you conversely agree with every remain supporter in every area?
    No?
    Then don't be so ridiculous.
Unless the comment is directed at me as gfplux's was I have no reason to comment.
    Neither did you.
Even though that didn't stop you, it did clearly demonstrate the ridiculous depths that some remain types will stoop to just to try and justify themselves but it didn't work again this time.

Poor remainers, they must surely by now be getting used to not getting their own way?

I think his point was that if you're offended by name calling, death threats should be right out.

Many of the atrocities never came to light until years after. As those responsible were astute enough to destroy all physical and documentary trace before the Russians arrived.

That supposed point misses when I am being called names but I am not being threatened with death, and neither was any poster here IIRC. ;)

I'm thinking of a firm that imports a lot from EU to sell the UK market. It apparently would have open border between EU and UK and apparently no checks between NI and GB. Maybe the logistics comes into it. It would be nice to see NI have investment flooding in.

It all may be academic if we end up with the closest possible relationship though. Very interesting.

I don't think it's going to be that easy, there will be a border in the Irish sea for at least a while (possibly permanent). The bigger problem I think will be going the other way. Are good from the UK to NI going to NI or will they be going further into the EU? How do you prove it?
