What about the UK's share of EU assets (widely recognized & agreed) built up since joining, can anyone tell us when these will be discussed and agreement reached since it does look like the EU will owe quite a sum back to the UK?
Any extensions which have happened have resulted in a reduction of the ‘divorce bill’. Johnson’s deal included a sum to be paid to the EU in settlement and if we leave at the end of January it will be reduced by three months worth. This did allow the Tory party to say that Corbyn had cost the country £3bn (or whatever) but this was not the case.
As for EU assets, presumably that was factored into the deal when the payment was agreed. None of us are privy to the information within these deals but you’d like to hope that our negotiators counted them.
It wasn’t ‘according to the EU’, incidentally. This was a negotiation between the U.K. and the EU.0 -
If there is a NO DEAL those 27 countries sitting opposite (if they actually come to the table) will be very upset, with their political leaders angry, their Industry’s damaged, their economy weakened and they will blame Britain and Hulk Johnson. The damage will be done. Why would they actually want to do a trade deal quickly after that?
And, potentially more importantly, given the damage to any good will we had - why would those 27 leaders do us any favours in negotiations or give any concessions that'd benefit us? We've ensured that they don't care about our interests.0 -

Divergence is what's going to make it fall apart. We can get an easy deal without borders with full alignment, but we're going to need to diverge to get that deal with the US. As soon as we diverge then the EU will need to protect it's markets with import checks.0 -

It looks like Brexit has cost us the Tesla Gigafactory. It was meant to be in the UK but is now going to be Berlin:

Good news.....for Germany
Tesla chooses Berlin
Despite the peals of laughter and derision from the usual remain sources, Tesla made it be known as long ago as 2015 that they were going to choose Germany.

There's is no mention at all in that article that Tesla was going to choose Germany.Tesla Motors Inc. is in discussions with the German government over the prospect of building a battery factory in the country, Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel said Tuesday.
Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk has been in contact with German officials and may seek state support for the facility, Gabriel said at an event at a Mercedes-Benz car factory in Rastatt, Germany. Gabriel didn’t provide details about the proposed plant or timing of a decision.
“We’re in talks” with the Tesla CEO about a possible plant, Gabriel said. “I assume he will want public funds.”
Reality is there were several options.
UK
Germany
Czech Republic : https://www.share-talk.com/new-tesla-gigafactory-looks-at-prague-czech-republic/
Portugal : https://algarvedailynews.com/technology/10403-tesla-in-talks-over-giga-factory-in-portugal
What Brexit did was simply to remove the UK from the list of options.
No more fake news now, understood?Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

Was announced in November 2016 that Tesla's first European plant would be built in Continental Europe. Logical as all of Tesla's existing plants aren't too far from a source of lithium for their battery production.0 -

From your first link:Musk recently toured Germany after an acquisition of a German company who would help in the design and development of the Gigafactory, and revealed that he plans a second factory in Europe.
You see, German input there already.
Now I can see you like the term "fake news" but if you're going to use it, might I suggest it's better that you don't employ this "fake news" yourself ?

FWIW even as a remainer I don't think that it's worth debating whether or not a Tesla plant would have been built in the UK.
Back in 2014 Musk did say that the first plant would be in continental Europe but that the second would be in the UK and an R&D centre would be in the UK before a car plant.
It's a little worrying that he has brought Brexit into the conversation though.
