All in all I find the idea of costing immigration for plus or minus rather beside the point. The direction of travel (metaphorically and physically ) cannot continue. The EU has been selling the idea of freedom to roam to recent joiners with the UK being one of the easiest destinations to get a job in. Does the UK receive a fee for this value? No, we pay one!0 -
I’m not sure it’s a reliable indicator anyway, when you factor in that EU workers are on average more likely to be younger, fitter and more economically active than your average U.K. born person.
The whole raison detre for EU migrants residency in the UK is to work, the picture for UK citizens is more mixed obviously.
I'm happy with that, see Post 5512, but it's just the baseless blah that some on here perpetuate without really think about the source or the accuracy.0 -

Yes, we do. It's called the economy. Our contribution to the EU saves us money.
This was all covered in great depth before the referendum, for those who wanted to know. Leavers said it was purely about the thought of immigrants coming here & it wasn't about the money.0 -
Apart from your delusional sense of entitlement what exactly are you angry about. One minute I am a racist middle aged gammon, and not I like immigrants too much.
For starters they will do the work a lot of our idle youngsters won't do and professionally and without complaint. If we all had their work ethic then this country would be buzzing, I have had them as tenants for 15 odd years now and cannot say one of them has given me the slightest problem. You as a tenant I can only imagine
One minute you are telling us that our young people are highly educated and motivated and then you are telling us that they are idle. Your posts are so all over the place that I don’t know where to start.
I didn’t call you racist by the way but you don’t seem to care very much for your own fellow countrymen. The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists.0 -
This summary of Johnson’s meeting with Merkel In Luxembourg’s Delano daily briefing.

Merkel gives Johnson challenge
German chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday charged Boris Johnson to find a solution to the Irish backstop in the next 30 days, a challenge that the UK prime minister called a “blistering timetable”, The Guardian reports. Meeting in Berlin, Merkel stressed the need to preserve “in letter and spirit" the Good Friday Agreement. Sky News reckons Merkel was playing good cop but that Johnson will be dealing with the bad cop when he meets French president Emmanuel Macron on Thursday. But The Irish Times says Merkel “side-stepped Boris Johnson’s attempts to wrong-foot her” and that analysts in Berlin say the meeting showed no signs of Germany moving its stance on the backstop.

Yes there are millions young adults from the UK who are well educated and aspirational, and they funnily enough are the ones who are still buying their homes in a country if you are to believe crash doomsters where property is beyond their reach.
Many of the rest that cannot get on the property ladder blame the world, even in a culture where they are assisted with HTB and have low interest rates that would have been a dream in my days.
Believe it or not in my younger days there we plenty of people who also could not or would not buy their own homes, it's nothing new.
P.S .. just an after thought on your point about the young, the ones I just mentioned, thumbs up to them. The ones I am talking about are the Love Island, TOWIE, X factor, Geordie thingy and Big Brother loving idiots who are as ..... as .....0 -

The current withdrawal agreement requires the UK to come up with agreeable solutions to the Irish border problem. The backstop comes into play if they can't be found.
After 3 years of not finding a solution it was a fudge to buy the UK more time. Johnson has come along and is offering a solution within the next 30 days which would mean that rather than renegotiate the agreement the backstop would become redundant.
Can't see it happening but might be a face-saver all round.0 -

Yes Bud, only you consider sources and accuracy.
I bet there are plenty of posts identical to yours advocating people not to immunise their kids all over the web.0 -

Merkel played it very well. Johnson’s only reason for the visit was to further his “it’s not my fault” agenda, and she’s completely undermined him by putting the ball firmly back into his court.
So he’ll now actually have to do something...
And he got beaten up by the good cop. His visit to the bad cop is later today...0
