I’m fairly sure I could actually feel my heart sink, reading that.

Following Mr McDonnell’s delightful intervention yesterday, just thought it was reminding all you angry Lib Dem’s about what it is you are actually going to end up with.

I sympathise with your view, however you need to accept the reality the Lib Dem’s are going to have to fall into line behind PM Jezza and their main partners in the SNP.

Corbyn will probably allow them a second independence referendum as the price of their cooperation.

So your principles are just going to deliver the !!!! show that is Jeremy and Nicola, with Jo probably left as Secretary of State for paper clips.

Next time a labour remain supporter tells us that the future of the union is in doubt we can just point them in the direction of their shadow chancellor.

The union is at risk anyway. Scotland is going to move towards another vote on independence whether Westminster approves or not.

Not sure why you think this is a big issue.
If Scotland want to leave then they should be able to.
Choosing is not the same as being out at risk.

I don’t think it’s a big issue as I won’t be voting Lib Dem. I also don’t care if the Scots have a referendum every week if that’s what they want.
Lib Dem voters might find the idea that they are as important as change uk in the grand scheme of things a little disheartening though.
Especially if they are ex-labour blairites who are clinging to the hope that they can hold the balance of power as they did in 2010.

What if they vote 52/48 for independence? Will that settle it? Because it does not look like it will?

I'm wondering if the UK Government would take a lead from the EU and insist that the SNP agree up front to pay Scotland's share of the National debt before they talk about anything else. And that they go and raise the money on the financial markets.

I'm also thinking that the Unionists will hit the SNP with all of the Remoaner arguments .

    It's only advisory.
    People can change their mind
    This isn't what you promised
Nobody voted for this deal or no deal.
    Nobody voted to be poorer
    Etc.

Maybe there will be a few legal challenges thrown in ?

It would be great to see all their Remoaner troll activity turned right back on them !

It will be beautiful to watch the brexiteer Tories trying to justify why Scotland should stay in the UK but the UK shouldn't stay in the EU. There will be a serious hypocrisy overload.

No hypocrisy when you’re comparing a 300 hundred year old political union with a barely 40 year old membership of a trading bloc. McDonnell’s comments are a gift to the Scottish Tories, they can quite legitimately say to Unionists that they are only party that can stop a 2nd independence vote.
