Already tried, and failed, because.....yep, you guessed it.... as the referendum was not legally binding, there's nothing to be declared null and void.

As above then. Just cancel it. Why are the Lib Dem’s (for example) not just calling for this?

Because they want to give the people the final say

I can see merit in that and also issues.

Hmm... I think they are calling for a referendum not revocation and are saying time is running out.

    Nope. They are saying Revoke.

Change UK's Chuka Umunna Says UK Must Revoke Article 50 To Avoid No-Deal Brexit
He said there wasn't time for a second referendum before the Brexit deadline.

Who said I was a leaver, I actually voted remain and believe we should leave preferably with a deal. In my opinion another referendum will solve nothing and only increase divisions the country is suffering from.

You actually think another referendum with a decisive result could be worse than... this?

Poor analogy and way off the mark, stick to context.

Just answer the question. Since when has democracy required doing something irreversible that people don't want before they can be asked what they want? You wouldn't do it over a dinner choice, why do it over our economic future?

Nobody is scared. Calling it such might fit the narrative but really it is a very simple question of fairness.

You are suggesting that in order to actually leave the eu, supporters have to win two referenda. In order to remain, supporters only have to win one.

Perhaps if those rules had been laid out up front it would at least have been transparent. But to make them up purely as a result of the first vote is thoroughly dishonest. No wonder politicians are held in such contempt.

You can’t seriously expect that anyone believes this confirmatory garbage. Everyone knows what it is. It’s only now being called confirmatory as a marketing rebrand just try get some vague justification. One could compare it to the response to TM’s ‘bold’ offer. I.e the same old carp just in a different hat.

There's nothing fair about it, and had there been a clear result the first time I'd agree with you. The confirmatory referendum (suggested by both Rees-Mogg and Farage, no less) is an attempt to figure out what people actually want, now that we know what the options are.

We're at a complete stalemate until we can find a majority for anything.

If you Leavers (and Cogito, who's definitely not a leaver) weren't scared of losing, you'd be jumping on this (like Farage did until he realised he'd lost) as a sure fire way to end all the uncertainty and show the government that a hard brexit is what the people want.

Simple really we were asked stay or leave....

We either leave with or without a deal, obviously we are a the point of not being able to cut a deal,so we leave without.

Who is Chuka Umunna and why is his opinion worth reporting?

He’s a spokesman for a new political party.
The content of what he’s saying (we don’t have sufficient time for a referendum before 31/10) is relevant to what’s going to happen (or not) with brexit.
