Good to see that Leftist metropolitan journalists are finally getting a tad nervous about the wave of anger induced populism that is sweeping the UK at present. It's as if they thought the near three year period of ongoing Brexit denial would not induce the reaction from Leave voters we are witnessing at present.
The Journo's are as out of touch with 'real' Britain as the politicians are.
Unsurprisingly, you're berating the messenger (leftist, metropolitan, out of touch, yadda yadda...) but once again failing to see the bigger picture.

This anger (and I have no doubt it exists), do you honestly think it will be assuaged in any shape of form by a WTO Brexit?

If so, I'd like to know how?
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

The bigger picture you speak of exists outside of Brexit IMO.
In essence, there is a huge swathe of the British people who are saying that unless they are listened to then there will be no return to business as usual.

And are they being listened to with Brexit?

    I don't disagree with you.
But these people were left behind by a failing industrial policy that laid waste to large parts of the North, a lack of meaningful jobs locally, non-existent access to decent healthcare, a growing sense of insecurity with police forces cut to the bone, a failing education and prison system, etc..etc...

Not sure if the likes of Widdecombe, Annunziata Rees-Mogg and Sargon of Akkad are the answer.

They're going to be really disappointed when this post-brexit land of milk and honey doesn't materialise. Oh well...more fool them...

And then the trouble will really begin.

They will be told that it hasn't worked because we spoiled it by not having the hardest possible Brexit or that the Remainers didn't show enough faith..

    More scapegoats anyone?

It gets a bit like those self harm websites.

That was over 50 years ago.............. Little has changed since. As the world has changed somewhat. Though manufacturing technology is now moving to an even more advanced level.

Now the technology is biting into the thousands of menial administration tasks that are undertaken ever day. Resulting in people requiring little more skill than the ability to follow a process. No thought required. With it a suitable rate of pay.

People with money run AirBnB's or a BTL. No wealth creation except for themselves.

We do know that EU membership wasn't. Time to give a different team a chance.

Who exactly are you referring to?

Guy Verhofstadt was elected as MEP in Belgium.
    http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/97058/GUY_VERHOFSTADT/home

Maybe it's useful to remind Brexiters that:
    • the UK has the House of Lords
    • British PMs are NOT elected directly by the electorate; if the leader of the main party changes for whatever reason, he/she will become PM and the electorate will have no say whatsoever
    • British Ministers are not elected as Ministers; most are elected as MPs, but this doesn't change the fact that the electorate has no say whatsoever in who gets to be minister of what
    • civil servants are not elected, and for good reason
Bad British PMs get their comeuppance sooner rather than later.

Many people are afraid of the Nationalism that is sweeping across the U.K.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
