Haven't been stockpiling out of fear of shortages, but I did do a couple of Channel crossings to stock up on French wine and Champagnes, Belgian beers, the finest Italian olive oils and Lombard sparkling wine.

Italian olive oil is garbage except for oil from Tuscany and Umbria. Most Italian oil is mixed with superior oil from places like Lakonia in Greece. Read a Bertolli label and see where it all comes from.

When politicians ignore the will of the people, it creates conditions for the rise of so called populism which then creates conditions for extremists to tap into that. Politicians in the EU would do well to bear that in mind. The UK too, come to that.

Sorry, I meant "will of the people". Pounce on discontent with populism and pretend there's a mandate for whatever fascist thing you want to do, veiling it as populism or the "Will of the people" until it's too late. It's fascism 101. It took years of populism before Jews were outcast enough to be sent to the gas chambers.

trying to blame Brexit is at best disingenuous.

Nissan boss has now confirmed Brexit was a factor in the decision; I wonder if all of the 61% in Sunderland who voted Leave are still happy with their decision?

All stocked up before the Pound crashes further and not a single penny for the exchequer of this fascist regime. It's a win-win.

Why not emigrate and enjoy the full benefits if you hate living here so much. Facism arose because of the disparity and oppression between social classes.

The diesel scandal has obviously been a big blow for those manufacturers who want to shift a model with a diesel power plant.

Also, some of these X-trails will breach the £40K higher VED barrier, and that can feel like a punitive charge.

But...fundamentally, EV production will shift East because places like China have a plan to stimulate a lot of growth in their internal market.

You're not going to sell a lot of expensive SUVs in Italy to the larger numbers of young unemployed over there.

Brexit does not remove the challenges all car manufacturers face.

Maybe not but Brexit clearly removes one of the benefits that manufacturers previously had that encouraged investing in the UK...

Well of course he will say that, just gives them a valid excuse instead of the elephant in the room - diesel.

Looking forward to the new Brexit 'Preppers' series on the Discovery Channel in the near future. Watching sad sack Remoaners will be compulsive viewing for some I'm sure.:)

Olive oil quality is never far from the mind of the Brexit supporter.
