London Gateway, when eventually finished, will have the capacity to unload 6 ships simultaneously. Fully automated too. Importation has never been easier. Be no French customs officials causing angst either.

It's great we can unload 6 ships simultaneously with no human intervention, but can we also do all of the customs checks and tariff paperwork at the same time? Or are we just able to build up a queue at the dock side really fast? The problem has never been how quickly we can unload the ships, it's bottlenecked on the customs points and any Brexit deal that doesn't involve a customs union will make that worse (by doubling the custom-point traffic).

There is plenty of evidence now that demonstrates that the more poorly educated adults are, the more likely they are to vote for the Right.

Do you think the Tories actually want good state education? No, they don't. They want people who are educated enough to be able to work in some capacity, but not enough to question their role in society so much that they stop voting for the Tories or blaming their problems on foreigners.

Ironically this is about the only long term planning Tory governments are interested in.
Tsk. And there's me thinking that a sign of a poor education was making bold assertions without offering any evidence to back them up.

No-one asked for a reference yet. But here's one about a study: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/the-hot-button/study-links-low-intelligence-with-right-wing-beliefs/article543361/

Of course if you don't trust experts I'm sure you'll try and find some way to discredit it.

It is. "Easiest negotiations ever", "Let's fund our NHS instead" & every other total lie that was spun in the leave campaign.

The leaver solution is to take back control by giving control away and not checking anything.

Cooper bill passed by the Lords, so "no deal" is no longer a legal option. At least some sanity remains.

I was referring to post #2571 "plenty of evidence now that demonstrates that the more poorly educated adults are, the more likely they are to vote for the Right"... which goes on to provide no evidence whatsoever for that assertion.

Do you think they understand the concept of tariffs and quotas and what effect they have?

The "they'll still want to buy ...." argument is when you know you are talking to someone who lacks a clue.

And you do have a clue? I would say not.

At the moment if they can't agree on the extension then its no deal come Friday.

They are not looking very agreeable so far

Give me a few thousand quid and I'll give you a study which shows that right wingers are fatter than left wingers and have poorer dental hygiene as well.

Attempting to correlate intelligence with politics is an inherently futile endeavour. By definition politics makes you stupider, as politics is the act of holding false beliefs for the sake of tribal loyalty or personal ambition - nobody describes believing 2 + 2 = 4 as a political belief. The antonym of political is correct. Arguing about which colour makes you even stupider than the other is a classic Alien vs Predator fight - "whoever wins, we lose".

Are left wingers more intelligent than right wingers? Quite possibly. Mathematically, one of the sides has to be more intelligent than the other, just as one of them has to be taller on average, and it may as well be them. Does it mean their beliefs are more likely to be correct? No.

I don’t know if you watched it being debated in the lords (I watched some of it) but it doesn’t necessary prevent no deal.
It only instructs TM to request an extension.

Although given no-one in a position of power wants no deal, then I don’t see it happening.
