With Android, unless you already have a QR scanner app (which means you know what a QR code is and how it works), pointing your camera to the code doesn't do anything.
So if someone has no idea how a QR code works, and he reads 'simply scan this QR code with your phone!", iPhone users get there pretty easily, while with Android you need to download an app to do the job (which, for many, is not a straightforward process), otherwise you scan the code and your phone does nothing.
Yes, Android Pie now has Google Lens already there, but it's still an additional step that it's not required in iOS, and obviously Pie is a version that still has a very small market share. And again, you need to know that, in order to scan a QR code, you need to open the Google Lens app (many people have probably no idea what Google Lens is or what it does, let alone that you need to open it to scan a QR code).0 -

Not sure why a competition seems to have taken steam....All mobiles are capable of reading QR codes.
It takes as long to open a camera app as it does a dedicated app. I presently have 3 ways to read QR Codes including directly from within the browser. On the rare occassion I use it the whole process is a breeze...Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

But since I use QR codes regularly for work (we advertise various offers using QR codes), I have noticed that iPhones are more 'integrated' with QR codes than Android.
When we ask random people to scan our codes, we notice that iPhone users get that pretty much instantly, while Android users, if they have never seen or used a QR code in their lives, need to be explained how to scan it, what to download, where to go, etc., and it's clear that many can't be bothered and simply give up.
I am not talking about my experience (using the camera app instead of Google Lens makes no difference to me), more as a general thought from what I see.0 -
If you are referring to the discussion we were having, I use Android and I am happy with it.

Of course the iPhone user who has never seen or used a QR code instantly knows what to do.....Amazing....:D
Iphone user opens the camera app, points the camera to the code, gets the link.

My phone (Huawei P9 Lite on Android 7) does nothing with a QR code in the camera app - I need to use a scanner app (e.g. Google Lens). So your assertion is false .. the Moto G4 might integrate it into the camera app, but it's not an Android 7 thing, which is exactly what arciere has been saying.0
