I need to get some business cards printed, and was thinking of including a QR code on the card, so people can scan in contact details with their phones.
Then I discovered through testing some codes with friends that Android doesn't seem to include a QR scanner as default, and someone has just said they think QR codes have had their day. iPhone has the ability to scan built in to the camera app.
What are people's opinions - are these codes not much used?

You can download one for free in seconds from the store.
I personally don't use them that much, but there are occassions when they become handy.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Apparently Android 8 or later can.

But otherwise, Play Store.
As to QR Codes, I've never used them myself and I have to admit I've never seen anybody use them. However they're free to generate so you may want to set up to a website (fred.com/qr for example which will send you to the homepage and then you can track how many people if any are using the QR code).0 -

They are useful in some occasions, I admit I rarely use them but if I need to go to a website that is advertised somewhere, and that also has a QR code, I like to scan it rather than manually type a (sometimes long) URL.
I think in a way they are similar to NFC tags, personally never used them but I can see they could be useful in some specific occasions.0 -
QR codes seem to have come and (almost) gone, like Citizens' Band radio...
I avoid them because it is so easy for some miscreant to include a malicious link in them.0 -

Understand they're still used quite a lot in the far east but unless you are doing business there I'd think it a bit naff on a business card over here.0

Probably better making sure you have a business that is delivering a service that people want and you can make a living from.
QR codes is just superficial pr crap. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
A QR code is a great way to scan the contents of a business card, I can't think of a better way. You can put your name, phone, e-mail in there.
I would definitely use them.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Just wait till you come across a business card with a QR code AND and NFC tag embedded in itLaters
