Female haircut at Barbers!

I had a great freebie haircut at the Toni & Guy academy in Manchester a few months back.
It takes a while, so don't go if you're in a desperate rush, but the girl who did mine was really thorough & well supervised. She made a great job of it. My understanding of the students is that they're all NVQ qualified hairdressers, but are just being trained up to Toni & Guy standard. If you have a boring bob like me you can't go wrong.
You can book on 0161 832 8282.
Sorry to all of you not in Manchester, but I believe they have a few of these academies all over the country. I'm sure a quick google search will come up with something.0 -
yeah, model nights. Call your loacal posh salon ask when their model night is and book. My sister goes every 2 months for a cut/colour/restyle and it's 100% free. Only probolem is it takes an average of 5 hours to complete
Also gets huge fancy drinks i.e hot chocolate with creme and flakes free so i often pop in for a visit ::):j :j0 -
I did my NVQ hairdressing at Saturday Morning college and we were always in need of clients for colous, cuts, perms etc and whilst you do have to pay its usually very cheap, cuts were about £3.50. They also needed people during the day for the students and they ran a class two nights a week. And have a beauty department there manicures and pedicures for £2.50. They also do other treatments - Worth checking out your local collages.0

I have been going to John Olivers Accademy in Norwich for about three months now. I went because I could not afford to get my hair coloured in any other salon - the prices were so expensive. I used to colour my hair at home. I had foils - 3 colours & a wash & blow dry, all for the price of £20. You can book in to have whatever you want. But be prepared - it does take longer than a trained hairdresser!!

I'm Spanish, lived in the UK for 9 years and never been to a UK salon in my life. They are so expensive that for the price of a haircut and some highlights you can fly to Spain, get your hair done and come back (not joking) In Spain I would pay approximately £30 for a haircut and highlights, so if you are planning to go to Spain on holidays, don't get your hair done before you go, wait and do it while you are there...0

It's cheaper not to get your hair cut at all. Only downside is you end up with hair like mine:
(I'm the one on the left. And yes that is Howard. No I didn't alert him to his uncomeptitive products. My hair is about half as long again now and probably twice as untidy, but I don't have a more recent one on my PC - that was taken around four months ago. No I don't pretend it makes me look cool)#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET

in my earlier years I worked in a hairdressing shop, the ladies who came in with a picture of the latest style used to make us all laugh, many had very fine hair but wanted styles only suitable for thick hair and the problem
was that the style was always on young models and most of the clients would have needed a face lift to look like the picture.....my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0 -
I would prefer you ladies to stick to the hairdressers. The queues at a decent barbers are too long already.A gentleman sexist and proud of it.0

I had a bad perm about 5 years ago. My red shoulder length hair just went straight into an afro. I hated it. It totally wrecked my hair. I suffered with it for 3 months until I was at a barbers with the other half and on a mad impulse dived into the empty chair and told the old guy to clip it off.
He started at the front and without warning ran over my head with the clippers. I'd never been so scared (or scalped!) in my life. I'd always had long hair. Other half's eyes were agog!
Nowdays I keep it about an inch all over with a big long floppy fringe and bleached blonde (with the odd occassional purple or red streak)
£4 at the barbers every 3 weeks = bargain.0 -
I qualified as a Barber some years ago and being a Female Barber it was hard to get men clients to trust you.
I was a traditional Barber short back & sides, cut throat shaves etc.
I wouldn't cut ladies hair as the techniques are so different.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
