Must visit the bear sculpture - one of my friends lives a few miles away from it.If you are ever at or close to Ikea there is another 4.5m horse sculpture by the same guy a mile or 2 away at the nearby Uni campus at EB. It is beautiful (though much smaller than the kelpies!)
Hope the weather has been kind journey wise. It is VERY windy here & being on a double decker bus to work this morning was "interesting" when we hit a brief stretch of exposed road en route!
*Relurks*Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

The wind is pretty dire.
Hope it dies down soon.

Hi Taka,
thanks for delurking, if you do manage to visit the bear, the path s/he/they is/are sited on goes by the local garden centre which has a good caff which I always think is essential for any trip out
I didn't know about the one near Ikea thanks, it is about the same height as the bear.
Journey went ok but I know what you mean about "interesting" I could feel the bus being blown around a bit and that was a single decker  . Still blowing a hoolie now but hoping it quietens down a bit for tomorrow morning.0 -

It is, I don't like itam hoping its not so fierce by tomorrow. Yes, even though the most exposed stretch of road was shut, one lorry to the south of town blew over and another went over just before the road closure section. No one hurt but must be such a shock.

Phew its the weekend, I've found this week hard going having returned to work on Monday. I think the weather hasn't helped. Its very windy again and has just got so dark with heavy rain that I've got a light on. Will not be going out today but at least that will be another NSD.
Wednesday was a 13 hour day, no work on Thursday but a very long to do list which I was pleased to have managed to work through. Friday was a heavy work day as well so didn't do much yesterday evening. Did manage to log on and pay 2 credit card bills and transfer some money from my business account to cover them.
December was so poor work wise that I can't cover all of the CC bill that I normally pay off in fullI've paid just under half of what is due and will make more payments as money dribbles in during the month so will incur some interest
I cashed in £11.50 from Prolific and £25 landed from 1poll yesterday so that helped towards the bills. I'm not very impressed with the CS from my new broadband supplier as I spent ages on the phone to them after a confusing email and they gave me some incorrect information which I discovered after then spending 25 minutes on the phone to BeeTee
I'm going to try and cut down on the biscuits and cakes as I ate far too much sugar over the festivities and my trousers are definitely tight. I'm also aware that with two new knees I need to be careful with my weight. On the food front I made a big frittata with all the veg I could unearth at the bottom of the fridge. I also added the last of the chopped up veggie sausages and have had that for 4 meals so rather pleased its finished :rotfl:. I'm a fan of chestnuts which strangely are normally half price at Christmas so I bought a few packs and also some chestnut puree which I was going to use in a pudding. This didn't materialise but I saw there was a recipe on the back of the pack for chestnut hummus. I was a bit sceptical but had all the ingredients so gave it a try and its delish so would make that again.
Need to have a hoover round and do the washing up as didn't do any yesterday. But first lunch - last of the scotch broth.

That sounds a hard week at any time of year actually, teapot, let alone the first week after Christmas. And ooh, cut price chestnuts ... I love the taste of chestnuts. I shall look out for some. Hope you have a relaxing evening tonight.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

The chestnut thing is a bit strange as they go down to half price just before Christmas when presumably lots of folk buy them and then immediately after Christmas they go back up in price. Not sure what thats about
My evening wasn't very relaxing, I spent most of it writing a report which someone was supposed to have emailed me at the beginning of December. They only sent it this week with a very short deadline so I wasn't best pleased. Never mind, hoping for a fairly relaxing day tomorrow.0 -
Well done on making it through the first week. It is always hard to get your brain in gear after a break isn't it. I like the sound of the frittata. I might give that a go this week for lunchboxes.0
