Soup made and some scoffed for lunch. A few surveys completed and a £2 @mazon voucher claimed from TV survey. Been trying to build my total up as got some birthdays coming up. Did a bit of work admin then went out brambling and got a good amount plus a few nettle stings
. Have found a recipe for a blackberry and apple cake which I'm going to try.
After foraging came home and sat on the settee with a cuppa and furry cat then woke up ages later having dozed off:o so epic fail on digging up the poppy roots
. Ah well, theres always tomorrow.
Saw another enormous spider scuttle away under a cupboard door when I opened the living room door  so no doubt that will reappear at some point. Big old furry boy is pretty indifferent to them. whereas his predecessor used to actively hunt them as he obviously regarded them as additional protein. He could be regularly seen proudly wandering about with a few spider legs protruding from his mouth :eek:0 -
Ug, I wouldn't like not being able to get it! Not once I'd seen it .... good luck with that!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Tidied the house and cleaned the bathroom and loo this morning then headed out to buy milk [for visitors] and some sugar for the bramble jelly or jam. Jelly is more faff but its seedless and a lovely colour so might attempt that if I can think of a way to suspend a tea towel to sieve the liquid. I think knotting the teatowl and using a wooden spoon to support it over something to drain is the way to go but not sure if I have anything deep enough for that. Will ponder....
Paid off my pay it in full CC this morning and one of the other 0% CC which is due soon. Just paid the minimum on that but may pay more later in the month when more money comes in.
Registered and paid for a one day workshop for work CPD which is good, had signed up for a different one but that seems to have been cancelled due to low numbers.
Family popped in for a cuppa minus children who were elsewhere so for a change we were able to have a conversation without interruptions . Made a blueberry and apple loaf - eventually as having put it in the oven I realised I'd missed out a vital ingredient. Had to take it out and scrape it back into the mixing bowl and stir furiously :rotfl:. Seems to have worked ok, think its one of those that tastes better the next day though.
Have dug up most of the popy roots though there is one bit I can't get at as its right in a corner up against 2 bits of wall. Some weeding done too but off to work shortly and not back until later this evening.
Have an online sale to wrap and post so best get on and do that :cool:0 -
Morning Teapot.
I have been picking loads of blackberries too this year. I have mainly been making compote and freezing for use through the winter when soft fruit is really expensive. I have made blackberry muffins this week and will make a crumble, but might also have a go at a blackberry and apple cake.0 -

Morning Hazelnutty, this is the recipe I used for the blackberry and apple cake I made; https://www.fabfood4all.co.uk/blackberry-and-apple-loaf/
Hope that link works ok. Its very easy to make, as a personal preference I would put in a bit more apple next time. I used fresh blackberries and it was fine, just added them in last and stirred gently so they didn't all break up. Very yummy and its the loaf that keeps on giving as you can then spend ages getting the seeds out of your teeth :rotfl:0
