Opened a new Bank of Scotland Vantage account mid-December, about a month ago.
The account seems to be up and running, a Post Office Saving DD set up and paid just fine.
However, it appears I can't link it to my PayPal account? Have tried quite a few times already, all I get is a message "we can't process your request right now, please try again later".
Any thoughts?

Raise a query with paypal - if you are putting the account number and sort code in to the 'add a bank account' section, it may be that they have a glitch on paypal rather than it being a bank account problem.

Given how efficient PayPal support is, I was wondering if anyone here might have had a similar problem.

Yes - for some reason it doesn't like the Halifax sort code 116435 for me. It will add other Halifax sort codes. I rang up and got them to add it manually (they ask questions from credit file to confirm identity on phone).

:wall: Somehow it reminds me of the fact that Royal Mail doesn't seem to like Lloyds Banking Group postcode, so you can't buy a label online. :spam:

Eventually was resolved with 2 phone calls. It was indeed a sort code problem - somehow PayPal dislikes the Central Branch @ Royal Mile in Edinburgh sort code.

It appears I have spoken too soon.

When I tried to make a transaction choosing the BoS account as a source, it never appeared on the bank statement and about a week later I got an email saying the bank has declined fund transfer.

Called BoS - they don't have any records of the transaction being attempted. Spent another 40 minutes on the phone with PayPal - got 3 further emails saying the bank has declined transaction when they attempted to collect £1 during the setup. The PayPal balance went down to negative meanwhile.

The same day tried to set up a DD to pay one of my credit cards - it was declined again with the message "Unfortunately we were unable to complete your request". Checked CC statement and BoS current account statement - the name and address appears to be identical on both documents.

    Any thoughts?
