Argos agent swearing on the phone ...

Dear All,

I have come here to seek advise and see if anybody else has had issues with Argos.
In December 2018 I purchased a Divan + Mattress worth over £1100.

I did call the customer service to have the divan upgraded to a 4 draw instead of 2.
However, my English is not perfect, and the agent accent was not something I am used to ... and I tried to explain that I received 2 draws and want 4 draws instead bla bla bla.

Long story short: eventually she was having a hard time understanding my logic to what I anticipated and what I would like to have... eventually the phone conversation went something like:

Agent: "so you want a 2 draw bed then.?"
Me: "no, I want a 4 draw bed..."
Agent: "haaahhh (sight) f... hell"
Me: "Did you just swear.... I want to speak to your manager cos u just swore at me"
Agent: "no it was not me it was somebody else.."

Anyway, after talking to the manager I got a phone call back stating that "no swear words could be heard". When I asked to why would the agent say "it was not me it was somebody else" the manager said "I cannot answer that, I do not know".

Anyway, I escalated this matter to Argos HeadQuater via a complaint letter.
I also asked for a copy of the phone conversation..

Today, I received an email (why not phoning me??) from an Executive who looked into this issue but again, he was not able to hear any swear words. Again, I asked him can you explain to why the agent would say that "it was not me it was somebody else" he replied with "I am unable to clarify that a swear word was mentioned".

So., in other words NOBODY can explain that and yet deny to hear any swear words !!
Of course the Agent did not say it out-loud but was in sort of off the phone as she was frustrated.

Bottom line, all claim not to hear the swearing but can't explain to why the agent would say "it was not me it was somebody else" which does imply something was said, right?

As an offer they asked me to accept £30.
Really ?? £30 for all the hassle and trouble... wow.

Any advise you can provide .... ??

PS: I am waiting for the copy of the phone conversation.

How much compensation are you looking for.

If none then let it go

Oh, that is a good attitude to have :)
I guess you like to be sworn at for a service you paid ...

Well, I am more annoyed the fact that they deny the swearing but yet ignore to give an explanation to the agent saying "it was not me...." which does imply something was said.

Or have you not read the whole thread.

Id take £30 every time someone swore at me. Most people seem willing to do it for nothing though.

    For nothing ??
though the agent swore and I heard it.... whether it may be mumbling or not out-lout > I heard it.

So, you all agree with the customer service using faul language.
I am sure you guys tolerate swearing on here as well then ????

    People shouldn't swear.

Sometimes people make a mistake and swear ( bad day , problems at home , difficult customer )

    Are you looking for

    Person to apologise

    Person to be sacked

    An apology from head office

    Compensation

    ?????

I am looking for the Head Office to listen carefully and admit about the swearing.
I also like an apology and compensation ... of which £30 over £1100 is peanut.

Reason why I came here to see if you have come across the same with Argos, what steps you have taken and in case where the Head Office is also denying everything > what next ??

    Read the whole thread.

It certainly doesnt soun like she was swearing at you even if swear words where used.

F ing hell is generally a term of frustration. If i had hear it in your context idve probably assumed theyd done something there end which warranted it. Like maybe they stubbed their toe on their desk or shed just seen the office lunch runner go out of the door without placing her order.

Either way, its someone on minimum wage who i know really doestn care about me or even know me for that matter. I just wouldnt care if they swore around me or not.

    £30 compensation is ample

If head office and transcript show no swearing then that will no longer be offered.
