I think there's one on Sahara that was there before the IP one opened.

Huge, massive, gigantic portions of truly horrible food. Chicken and waffles springs to mind.

Not sure how much I've written on here about where we eat in Vegas, so I'll give some info now.

We quite like happy hours, such as Maggiano's (for the flatbreads), El Segundo Sol for the nachos (ok and the Margaritas), Canaletto in Venetian we discovered last year for pizza, Buddy V's for prosecco, Grand Luxe cafe for cocktails. Can't think what others.

Our first few trips to Vegas we didn't go to buffets. We used to go to the restaurant that is now Trevi in Caesars on our first night. We liked Il Fornaio. Haven't been to either in years, but used to go each trip. Also liked Canaletto and another place in Venetian for sit down meals.

About 5 trips in (maybe more) we discovered buffets. Often when we were out in the car or also using shuttles - Silverton, Orleans, Gold Coast and often went to Harrahs and Bally's. We've also went to Wynn buffet pretty much every trip since it opened, Bellagio and some others. MyVegas came along and helped with the price. We now often also do Mandalay Bay, MGM and some others. But we mix it up with the happy hours. Vegas has got more expensive over the years, but we're still getting good deals at happy hours and buffet deals. To have sit down meals like we did during early trips I think we'd spend a fair bit of food and drinks, especially with the current exchange rate.

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Every trip I intend to do more Happy Hours, but never get round to it. Center Cut and 107 Lounge have been on my radar. The only one we've done is NFI last year and the year before, to use the MyVegas comp, but it disappeared before this year's trip.

I also had Cornerstone and Ping Pang Pong pencilled in for this year, but couldn't fit them in. Went back to Envy again which was good. Only had 2 buffets which were free with MyVegas. Aria lunch was OK. Loads of seafood which suited the OH, but no use to me. Bellagio was beyond awful. Neither of us could cut the beef and we couldn't get a knife or a fork into the pork ribs. In hindsight, I should have called someone over and let them see how bad it was. Often people's opinion of a buffet is subjective, but this wasn't a case of us not liking what was on offer. It was that what was on offer was not just poor quality, it was bad.

I don't know what caused the brain farts, but there were 3 occasions when I should have spoken up but didn't. May have been down to my head being mince due to lack of sleep, as there was only one night when I slept more than 3 hours.

    .

Mr Dontone is partial to a lot seafood too. I'm a straight up cod n chips gal.
Paris had a ton of it when we went, and the smell was awful. Put me off straightaway, and if you were into that, there was a ton of choice.
And, I really hate it when they have a choice of meat, but the joints look like they are still alive. I fancied some beef, and it was proper blood red. And I can't eat it like that. One woman complained to the server that it was far too rare, to which the server said 'well, that's how it should be served' and the lady said 'and you should realise that not everybody likes it like that'.
I managed to find a section that served turkey and had a make do Sunday roast dinner. Then I podged myself on the dessert section, which also was very poor choice wise. Mr Dontone liked it, but it wasn't my thing at all. I would have been more happy with a McD's after all that.
That's one of the reasons that I think that buffets are a waste of money. They charge all that, but sometimes, depending on which day you go, they can be a ton of stuff, but very little choice IYSWIM.

    Just got back last week
Eats (all off strip - mainly Rampart / Tivoli area ) and are evening only, Breakfast / lunch were in the apartment

    Cheesecake factory
    Applebees
    Outback
    Black Bear
    M Resort buffet
Main Street Station Buffet (Very poor)

We had a 3 day trip out to Kings Canyon / Sequoia staying in Clovis where we ate at Dennys (poor) / IHOP (very nice)

The only bad experience was the new pay at table machines coming in, our server at Applebees brought the food then started telling us how to pay on the machine including all the tip options - let us eat it first please !! she then kept coming back about 3 times whilst we were eating to make sure we knew what to do. It was only one time, maybe she was due to go off shift
Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy

We'd get on just fine! I don't like seafood and the seafood is the reason for the high prices of buffets. As for fish, I very rarely eat fish away from home, except in Spain when I know if is fresh. Living in a major fishing port, we know what fresh fish tastes and smells like. Fresh fish doesn't smell!!! At least not like the awful fishy smell people hate. It has a very faint smell that is barely noticeable. Haddock and lemon sole are my favourites.

As for beef being rare, it depends on the cut of beef, but we always have Filet Mignon rare or "still mooing". I also like prime rib rare, but I agree that at some buffets it can be too rare.

And I agree that there can be loads of food, but very little to eat. I blame myself for not liking what is on offer rather than the buffet. I'm not overly fussy, it's just that I don't like things like sushi, etc. Aria was like that with loads of ethnic dishes, but as long as I find enough to eat I'm OK with it as I'm not a huge eater.
