After Greggs’ vegan sausage roll, what else would you veganise?

  • I've not seen carnage, Earthlings is indeed grim watching and very upsetting.
Forks over knives is good if you want to see the health benefits of a vegan diet..
Cowspiracy is good if your interested in the environmental impact.

Not sure what product I'd actually desperately want.
Most days what i really want is to not be singled out, treated like a weirdo, questioned on my ethical choices, asked about omega oils, asked if my iron / B12 levels are ok but theirs ( the carnivore) isn't but my diet is dangerous. Ok, Carnage is upsetting but not in the same way as I've heard about Earthlings (which I haven't seen). It makes its point in an intelligent yet accessible fashion, and the humour makes it very watchable.

My Mum has been a lifelong milk advocate and I was surprised how touched she was by the insight into the dairy industry. I'm off to buy some soya milk now and try the earlier tip re: hot drinks :)

My friend made me coffee with Oatly Barista recently and it was delicious! Bit pricy, but good for a treat.

This is a short and snappy video about dairy if anyone is interested.

Graphic warning obviously due to the subject matter.

I've been toying with the idea of writing a blog about the best vegan meal deals, eg, Boots, WHSmith, M&S, Waitrose etc... is that something you'd like to see, or you think would be helpful? :)

Please do - it's scary what they put milk in??? Salt and vinegar crisps :( I'm taking part in vee-gan-uary to support my niece and my partner. My great-nieces are allergic to milk and so buying vegan is the best option for my niece for her to ensure that her little ones are not ill. My partner is suffering from a lot of stomach issues and is finding the vegan diet helping with them.

I'm therefore baking and cooking vegan and finding it very interesting. Made some vegan brownies yesterday with linseed 'egg' and took them to uni today - no-one had an idea they were vegan.

I understand and support what you say. I am not a vegan, but respect other's views. After vee-gan-uary I will make better choices of where my produce comes from. I suspect we will eat very little meat, I was beginning to go off the stuff before anyway.

The oaty barista stuff is amazing and makes really good porridge as well. Yes it is pricey at £1.80 a litre.

The only thing I have really missed and cannot find a substitute for is eggs as eggs. The linseed replacement 'egg' has worked out very well in baking and I will be using that moving forward. But for fried or scrambled eggs there is nothing to beat them. I am going to make sure that the eggs I buy in the future are by local small producers where I can see the hens themselves.

Just wish to point out that that is ‘Industrial’ food which is absolutely no different to industrial food produced for Vegan or come to think of it industrial anything else ie clothing produced in the Far East in sweat shops which abuse workers etc.

For those wanting to see what healthily, sustainable and environmentally friendly dairy really looks like....
