BT internet GB overusage? Is this a joke?

actually they have a Fair Use Policy which means that they could say that any amount is unfair, one month 10GB could be ok, the next 5GB. Tiscali own Touscan, which is set at 1.7GB a week!0

Of course every ISP has a Fair Use Policy, but anything is better that the BT service that is expensive for their 5GB allowance but simply ridiculous for their unlimited usage allowance package!

I dont see peoples issue here
You entered a contract with BT
Your breaching it, their charging you a minimal amount for that
Once your contract is up your free to move on
Get off your high horses0 -
The issue is that it is asking you to upgrade to a higher BT package that costs about £15.00 a month more because you are using too much. It looks like a huge extra amount of usage when they mention it. They send a letter out asking me to upgrade (your contract starts there again by the way for another year so you are locked in) At the end of the day my overusage adds up to 30 pence a month not £15.00 but my neighbour downstairs seeing this letter took it as a threat and wanted to take the higher package.0

Your free to say no
Every company sells upgrades, nothing rong with it at all and the letter isnt a threat in the least
If they had said they would automatically upgrade you etc then it would be but they clearly state they will charge you 30 per gb or you can upgrade0 -
Of course Iamthesmartestmanalive is correct, you sign up to a contract, so if you break it you have to pay the charges, in my case I pay for 5GB usage for
£25.99 but I use 11GB + a month, so of course I should upgrade.
As my contract finishes in 3 weeks, I will move to a different ISP, and never go back to BT.0 -
You *know* you have a 5GB cap and you went over it. BT, instead of charging you, sent you a polite reminder.
Why shouldn't BT charge you? I really don't see what the problem is.0 -
If BT are sending these letters asking for 30p extra per GB, why have they charged me £1 per GB exceeded in my latest bill?0

Probably because this thread is from 2007 and BT have since increased the amount they charge for going over your limit since then.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
