I think EarthBoy has misinterpreted the T&Cs
Existing HSBC customers are not eligible. However, for the purposes of this offer, customers of First Direct and M&S are not defined as HSBC customers.
OK so far, BUT
The account being switched in must not be from any in the HSBC group i.e First Direct and M&S0 -

or building society which is outside the HSBC Group that
