I still cringe about the amount of money I have wasted over the years (£,000's) and nothing to show for it, lots of regrets.
Haha yeah i know that feeling i smoked for about 10years i dread to think the amount i spent.
Have you tried Qmee to knock your earnings up???0 -
Wow, that's a fantastic round up NMC. Well done for working through it all and getting it down. :T I do love a good list and I've read yours twice
I had a Saturday job in Woolworths when I was 17 and a girl I worked with had to give 1/3 of her wages to her Dad for him to save for her. I always thought it was a bit mean but it's not a bad theory tbh. There's a lot to be said for the old cash/envelopes/pots system that your step-dad had. I think it helped in years gone by that there was nothing much to be had and every family seemed to be in the same boat. These days we're surrounded by people/adverts/social media etc telling us what we can't possibly live without or trying to get us to keep up with everybody elsexx
Thank you Tea that’s lovely of you x
Ah Woolworths loved going in there for my Madonna posters. Yes you are right there is a lot to be said so much simplier and you knew where you were. My brother, auntie and cousin have this method too my brother does not like internet banking or credit cards !
I must admit I do get envy of others but it’s not all what it seems and I tell myself
Have a lovely Monday x

Good evening
Just checking in before I call it a night, early start tomorrow had to change plans, I was due to be in the office all day, however, my poor mum is not very well so I came home early from work today and subsequently sent her home to bed. I have managed to get the girls in holiday club for 5 hours in the morning, so I will work from home and then taken the afternoon off. I am worried about going away and leaving my mum, will check up on her before I go to bed and just ask one of my sister in laws to check in whilst I am away. My sister lives in the channel islands so unfortunately she can't just "check in".
I don't need my train ticket for tomorrow so rang to request a refund, however, they charge £10 administration costs per refund (its in an Rail Act of some sort - who knew ??) so I wouldn't get my £4.60 back. Anyway I after a 10 mins discussion they kindly agreed to refund "on this occasion". Its not like me to stand up for myself I wasn't rude but glad I didn't just accept their first response.
You can't win you need a ticket before you travel which I always do and the amount of times the trains are or cancelled (one just last Wednesday ) it doesn't seem very fair !
So perhaps I only buy on the day now, but then my NSD's would be virtually non existent, I will need to reconsider this perhaps?!
So today's round up.....
NSD 7/15
Lunch to work 5/9
Water: 2ltrs
Steps: 12,215
Entertainment Budget: £5
I am going to transfer the £5 to the money I have budgeted for the taxi to and from airport and airport spends.
I have been reviewing my budget (again) I have transferred £20 of my weekly spends to "youngest birthday tea saving pot". This will still allow me £30 per week for the next 3 weeks.
Saving Pots ......
Youngest Birthday tea £30/£40
Emergency Fund - £0/£500
Holiday in August - £0/£2000
Easter Break - £0/£200
Repair mobile phone screen - £0 / £need to get quote
My best friend contacted me today and hopefully they are coming to stay for a couple of days beginning of March, will be so fab to see them. We have discussed keeping things as frugal(ish) she knows I am trying to rein in the spends so we plan having a day out walking and taking the girls to a nice park :-) So fingers crossed the weather is dry for their visit.
Not so much a quick update, I do like to twitter .....
Enjoy the rest of Monday
Best wishes

Happy Tuesday
Broken nights sleep at NMC towers, youngest woke up at 2am crying that she was "scared" then oldest had an accident so I was subsequently stripping the bed at 3am! Feel rather lathergic today so an early night it will be once I am all packed and ready for my trip. I have the afternoon off work so that will help.
Just 5 mins pop in before I set off to pick up the girls from holiday club. I have an account with a local credit union only £5.19 in there but I am going to start this off as my emergency fund.
oops better go set off for the girls ....
Back soon

Re Qmee its a little app you can put on your phone and you can do market research surveys on there. I use it when i am on my days off or i am on boring public transport journeys too and from work. The little surveys can be a nice little earner, i have being using the app since October and i have earned 135 quid its not loads i know. But if your building up an emergency fund or you want some extra cash for treats etc etc every little helps.
The surveys are small amounts usually 15p upto 1quid plus and some can literally be done in 2-3 mins.
Topcashback.co.uk is another one too bring in extra funds, remember with clearing these debts think smart no matter how small the reward.
Two examples re me i recently swapped my broadband i got 45 quid cashabck just for changing from EE too Plusnet.
At Xmas i bought my sons and me some superdry clothing i got 9 quid cashback just for shopping in the sales.
That 54 quid all went off debts.0 -
Girls collected and back home, they have had a great morning and currently chilling on the sofa.
Another NSD so far today - not planning on leaving the house today now as lots to do before tomorrow to be organised. So fingers crossed nothing crops up. I think I did enough shopping to last the month on Saturday !!
I do not think I am going to hit my 15 NSD target and with working from home today my lunch to work could be 8 maximum. But gives me a baseline to work with next month.
I have set up £20 a month to my credit union savings (aka emergency fund) straight from my salary with a view to adding to it as part of my budget. Things may change once I know if I have a job or not but its a start and even if by June I am redundant I can build some of the redundancy money into savings, will cross that bridge when I come to it. I also have to consider starting to pay into a pension again, I have two pensions that are frozen but time is flying by so will deal with this once I know what is happening at work.
I gone through and balanced the fees for holiday club and given the dates to book the girls from now until August 2019, I have also projected what it would cost so the monthly childcare voucher payment I send is enough to cover all the dates. Again, this may need to change once I find out my job situation.
I have found a bit of change hanging about in one of my envelopes (£1.16) so I am going to send that to the 1p savings challenge pot so now standing at £33.63
I have decided to leave the £5 I have left out of my weekly spends and save it for the weekend my BF plans to visit.
Budget Expenditure Round up (£spend to date/£allocated budget
Weekly Entertainment budget - £25.00/£30.00
Monthly Entertainment budget - £30.00/£110
Youngest birthday bits and pieces - £22.89/65.00
Food - £101.16/£200.00
Birthdays - £210/£275
Saving Pots
1p Savings Challenge - £33.63/£667.95
Youngest Birthday tea £30/£40
Emergency Fund - £5.19/£500
Holiday in August - £0/£2000
Easter Break - £0/£200
Repair mobile phone screen - £0 /£50.00
Next month I will start to allocate to the above.
To do:
Make Tea
One wash in and to dry
Ironing
Finish packing
Euro's and passport into handbag
Make girls lunch for tomorrow
Wrap friends present
Tidy round and hoover
Wipe down kitchen and bathrooms
Make up daughters bed
Right... better get this show on the road
Hope everyone is having a lovely afternoon
Best wishes

Hope your Mum is feeling better. Ooh, have to say I don't miss those sort of sleepless nights although you don't sound lethargic to me, you're on fire with all your plans and budgeting :T
If you don't come on again before you go away , have a brilliant time. xx0 -
