Hello NMC - your birthday celebrations sound fab, glad you had a good time.
I think 8 NSD and lunch days is pretty good going actually, with everything else you've had going on. Doesn't harm to aim a little higher this month though, just for the challenge, but don't beat yourself up about it if you don't achieve them.
Keeping a diary shouldn't be about making ourselves feel bad because we had the occasional slip up. Life is not perfect and certainly not where money is concerned.:rotfl: For me it's about exactly what you've done. Getting it all down in black and white so you can re-look at where improvements can be made, if you even want to make them. Some people might be quite happy buying a chocolate bar or a magazine etc.
You have some good targets for February. The main thing is even if it goes to pot for a day or two, to keep plugging away at what you want to achieve.
Enjoy your Friday evening and the walk and pub tomorrow. xx0 -
Thank you Tea much appreciated x
I find it so hard to be consistent I have a couple of good weeks then have a wobble then back on again then off etc....I am the same with my eating habits all or nothing ... I need to find the balance
I do find that getting it down on here does help its very therapeutic. I don't think I will ever be perfect with money and reading other people's diaries I am just shocking in comparison, you are all so focused I love reading all your diaries never miss a day even on holiday.
Have a lovely Friday too and thanks again x

To do list pretty much completed have done my meal plan just need to finish food shopping list after I have done a stock check in the fridge, freezer, cupboards and bathrooms. No more spends since this morning.
Eaten too many crisps this evening (it all started off so well !!) and its WW in the morning not expecting the scales to be kind. Oh I did enjoy the creme egg and fruit pastilles yesterday too so only myself to blame.
Checked gas/electric account to make sure we are paying enough and wont get into debit - all on track.
Checked experian credit score - 999 out of 999 and affordability score good - even though I do not want anymore credit - this is good to know.

Finish food shop list
Do at least 15,000 steps
Take breakfast and coffee to WW
Put chicken curry in slow cooker before walk
Track spends
Drop some donations off at charity shop

I am now aiming for a no spend day tomorrow and Thursday there is nothing I need so no excuses.
I have been thinking of doing some surveys I already have a you gov account and have, before Christmas eventually managed to cash out then haven't been really bothering but I know a lot of MSE's do fairly well with other sites so going to look into those.
I am also mindful that we could do a LOT better with saving money within the house. Whilst I am on the cheapest tariff available for dual fuel I am aware that we are shocking at leaving lights on in rooms not used, tv on in the kitchen when we are all in the lounge. Water is another prime example where I know we could do better. I only use the tumble dryer for underwear and towels (sorry I can't deal with hard towels - neither can the girls !!)
I am working on why spend on unnecessary nonsense - I am so much better than I was but its like I am not happy until I have no money left but when I don't have any left I am full of regret !
I had counselling after my youngest for post natal depression, that did help as I am a terrible worrier which also allowed me to discuss my spending ways and need to replace anxiety with spending. I always felt happy shopping and spending especially for other people. My family had a tough few years, we lost my step dad at 66 nearly 6 years ago to dementia he would of been 72 on Thursday, 8 months after I lost my Nan to cancer. When we lost my step dad my youngest was only 6 weeks old and my oldest 14 months. I also had two rounds of IVF beforehand so I think it was a build up of all the stresses and upset and when my youngest was 6 months old I was diagnosed. My support network was wonderful and continue to be and I know how lucky I am.
Anywoo went off track there a bit - I want to revisit my budget for the next 7 pays (February to August) we are going on holiday in August for 2 weeks so want a saving pot for that and for a weekend at the coast at Easter so another one for that too.
I find out my job situation in April so fingers crossed that will all work out.
Finally before I forget
Step count tally :
Saturday - 19,957
Sunday - 9,267
Monday - 12,672
This is how my mind works some days its very structured some days like today its all over the place !
Off to put a wash on and dry my little ladies coat.
Take care

Evening NMC. The only survey site I do is prolific academy and I've had about £80 from them in the past 5 months. They are a bit slow at the moment which is a shame as their surveys are interesting....well to me anyway
I think trying to change our spending habits quite often goes hand in hand with also trying to figure out why we do what we do. It sounds like you had a tough few years and let's face it for most people spending is a nice thing to do and is a bit of time out from the reality of life.
Lights and the central heating are a constant source of battle here, as in most households I expect
Well done on the steps, that sounds like a lot of walking :T xx0 -

Hi Tea
Thanks for the info I will check them out. I got to admit I do enjoy spending I wish I had the same love of saving i would be in a better position than I am now living paycheck to paycheck. Anyway I am sure this diary and all the inspiration from yours and other diaries it will help me going forward.
I have just been round the house turning all the lights off I don't think there was one room with a light off !!!
Have a lovely Friday
