Evening EE,
Loving the start of your new diary.
I also live on a smallholding. Have yet to find a way to bring in any concrete money from it though. Tends to just be a hobby and a good way to fill the freezer for us.
I'm subscribed and look forward to following your 2019 adventures0 -
Long time lurker waving hello and subscribing to your new diary. Looking forward to you being in control of your own finances and successes with no one sabotaging your plans!
Also I know this was mentioned on your last diary but if you have Netflix they now have a Marie Kondo series on there, might be worth a watch0 -
Belated Happy New Year to you and yours EE!
And congratulations on your new, sparkling diary! You've left the old life behind and I wish you all success for 2019, which i think will be your year now that you left behind all the luggage that was weighing you down and draining you.

Thanks everyone for commenting and subscribing.
Apologies for starting a diary and then not coming back - its been a bit hectic, I always find that when there is a bank holiday in the middle of the week everything seems rushed.
Still skinter than a skint thing but getting through the month very slowly, I have more bills due out than I have money but we'll deal with that when the time comes. I have now moved all tiny bits of money from all my accounts into one so I know exactly what I have to live on.
I brought some xmas/birthday presents jointly with STBEXH and he has now transferred me all the money for them but I had put some of them on my credit cards and some from my bank account but need the money to live on so cant pay anything off my credit cards yet.
STBEXH is now being a twit about the money he owes me for furniture and is asking for a breakdown of relatives estate so he can make sure he has not been 'done over'. I swear I may kill him, he had £3k of relatives money to help set up his new house and I ended up with a new bed (ordered before we split but only £350) plus £100 I drew out in cash and not sure what I did but no doubt spent on him or the kids.
I do have all relatives CDs etc as the agreement was STBEXH took all the cash and I had the CDs and stamp catalogues which I am slowly selling on ebay - no doubt he'll feel hard done by but its tough luck.
Anyway I will rise above it and deal with him in a polite manner and only swear about him on here or to friends.
As mentioned I do have over 1000 CDs of relatives which I am selling on ebay - I have done them all as Buy It Now with free postage in UK, they are selling slow and steady but this is not guaranteed income. I have already sold the majority of the stamp catalogues which have helped with outgoings for the past 6 months.
Any money I make via ebay this month will be needed to live on but going forward I hope to split the money and do half to debt and half to save for a new carpets/DIY stuff/May short break.
I need to start really doing surveys again, I have done some YouGov ones this week but not had time for others, next week is also very busy but I just need to make time.
Took my son back to Uni yesterday so at least the house will be tidier and I will have plates and cups in the kitchen cupboards plus of course I dont have to buy extra food for him. Hopefully will keep the food costs down as just me in the week and DD at weekends.
Need to tidy my room and find the Marie Kondo books, I do have Netflix so when I have 'spare' time I will watch her prigramme.
I also need to do my FS and post it on here but I have some committee work to get done today so unless I get all that done it wont be today and more likely to be next weekend when I have the whole weekend at home.0 -
Your doing really well EE. You may have some financial juggling still to do, but isn't it great to know that you alone are now responsible for any outgoings in the home and you don't have to worry about mopping up after the STBEXH!
He is being a prize twit - but that's because he's panicking now that he doesn't have you to bail him out of his financial messes!
I watched a couple of the Marie Kondo episodes. Nothing there that we don't know already if you've read her books, but quite entertaining. They've picked a diverse mix of families to showcase the series.

Yep, he’s a prize twit all right. Curse him on here, we don’t mind a bit.
Best of luck with it all0 -
Good luck EE. We will get there, one day at a time. Stand your ground and let him stress it all out - you focus on your stuff.

How annoying he's questioning you, one of my pet hates is people trying to have their cake and eat it. He took the easy cash and now wants a piece of the cash you're generating through the harder task of selling stuff.
Have you looked at music magpie? I had a mass of CDs a few years ago and sold them vis the site, got an average of £1.50-2 per CD so really added up and none of the hassle of individually listing etc.
I'm sure you've already looked into it, but some of those interest rates you're paying are eye watering, no chance of shifting them somewhere cheaperDFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)
