Hello all!
Was pretty chilly overnight. My plants were wrapped up warm, and have been wrapped up again tonight. Was dry here, quite windy and cloudy, but lovely long bouts of sunshine.
So, we cut the grass, raked the grass, raked the borders, dug up some weeds from the borders, hacked back a few prolific plants, watered some of the potted bits as it's been quite dry here this week, and then I applied weed killer to the lawn. The dandelions are out of control! And then there's the moss! I reckon it's only 25% grass at present! Sigh. Bloody stuff keeps growing in the border beds though, doesn't it!! Grrr.
So, we are knackered. We now both have sore lower backs, and I seem to have pulled a muscle in my leg. A long hot bath has helped a bit. Managed to fit in some tidying of the living room and a Hoover, and a lovely roast. I am longing for my bed tonight!
Oh, and I bought some Latah tomato seeds after reading about them on a thread on here, and have sowed a few of themFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I confess a part of me feeling sad at the demise of the dandelions. I adore them.
They quite honestly so useful to me LOLWealth is not measured by currency0 -

Don't worry, were surrounded by fields where they run rampant! We, personally, don't want them in our little lawn.February wins: Theatre tickets0

That's fair enough Euro if you don't want them.
We have the same thing with ivy. People are constantly tell me how good it is for wildlife and I am happy for it to grow in the woodland but I don't want it invading my garden area and flower beds.
I took a load down on a retaining wall and it has damaged the wall badly - a neighbour said such a shame it looks lovely and is a home for nature! (Grow it on your wall then..).
So not knocking any comments but just saying by having gardens we have choice what we grow and most of us naturally have a good variety of treats for the wildlife.0 -
Oh and I have the moss problem too on our garden lawn. I wouldn't mind it as it is green and the look of it doesn't bother me but the problem is it isn't tough enough to withstand heavy footfall/kids playing.
We had it with our front garden in our last house and despite regular aereating treating scarifying etc we never got on top of it.
Here the kids never use the garden as they play in the field so I am leaving the moss alone. Can't be bothered fighting a losing battle.0 -
Well, ivy & other weeds aside - that's the last of the cold nights. Once I'm back from the oncologist, this afternoon I aim to be elbow deep in potting compost
Up and at 'em !
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
Good for you unrecordings but make sure you don't overdo it. I hope all goes well for you today.
The forecast does look like we can crack on. I can finally get these dahlia tubs out of my hallway!
Have a lovely day everyone.0 -

That's the beauty of a garden, it's an expression of personal space and much like art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Just a blood test & follow up from last round of chemo - box ticking in other words. The overdoing it comes later in the week when I'm visiting my favourite salvage yard to see what they have in terms of salt glazed sinks and grindstones (I'm from Sheffield, I need a grindstone in my garden..!)
