. I'm always moaning on my diary. LIfe is full of ups and downs for all of us.
Well, I never think of what you say as moaning. Life has dealt you some cruel blows recently and even when you're 'down' you always somehow manage to find something positive in it and move on. That's a gift IMO0 -

I used to take it many years ago for severe period pains and it was the only over the counter tablet that helped to relieve the pain. I eventually went on a prescription pill for the pain (can’t remember the name as it was so long ago). I still take Veganin on the odd occasion for tension headaches and when my back pain flares up it’s the only thing that touches the pain. A few years back, when I was visiting my mum, I had a really bad headache and she offered me one of her Cocodamol tablets - that never touched the pain either. I called at the Chemist on the way home and the pain subsided immediately. I don’t know why it always works for me, maybe it’s the aspirin, combined with coedine and paracetamol? Worth a try maybe? A few months ago, I was laid up with my back and I ran out. I ordered it on-line from The Independent Pharmacy and it arrived the next day. I have used this online service before when I desparately needed some prescription hydrocortisone cream to clear up a nasty rash. Yes, it did cost me, not very MSE of me I know, when I could have got it for free as I had just turned 60, but it came the next day - I would have had to wait over a week to see my doctor. Our GP surgery offers an online appointment system, but to see the doctor of your choice takes well over a week and even ANY doctor the best part of a week. I know, we shouldn’t grumble, we are very fortunate to have our NHS, but when you are in pain you can’t help it:mad:
Hope you get some relief soon.
I've had Co-codamol in the past, but never tried Veganin - I've ordered some from Boots with my Advantage points ! Thank you, rl, it at least gives me another option.0 -
On the subject of pain relief, I had a serious back injury involving shattered vertebrae and lots of residual nerve pain, which periodically causes me problems still. My back management regime broke down into three component parts. Ibuprofen 600mg (the max dosage over the counter is 400mg) - I took two tabs, up to four times a day for years, literally years until I had a major episode (caused ironically, by stumbling while putting on my underwear - I was standing, never having considered sitting!) and ended up in A&E. The Doc there recommended I stop taking the Ibuprofen as it had the potential to damage my kidneys, and was masking any other issues. I rarely touch them now unless I have a twist-injury (such as a fall) with swelling. Instead I always keep a supply of 30mg codeine in the house (provided on prescription) and I use these (2x30mg), combined with paracetamol (2x500mg) and take to my bed for 24 hours in the event of an episode.
I have to say this is my go-to regime as I know what dosage I am taking. I do occasionally resort to Syndol for tension headaches, if they last longer than a day. You must be careful with codeine as it is an opiate and apart from potential addiction issues, it will cause constipation and can make you drowsy (hence the go to bed advice). Works for me, in preference to any of the combined brand name things.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Thanks very much to all who posted congratulations and good wishes after my news about the F&F offer I received yesterday:T
I always deal with my creditors in writing mainly because I want to keep a 'paper trail' of events but also because I get flustered by these people when speaking to them on the phone. It's different though when I'm only phoning to finalise details about an offer they've made which I'm happy to accept;)
I phoned them earlier this morning and they even offered to accept the payment over 6 months. I'd love it all finalised as soon as possible though and have the money already set aside in a saver account that I set up solely for my F&F savings. As soon as they send me the official letter to state that neither they nor anyone else will ever chase me for the unpaid balance I'll transfer the money:j.
Miracle of miracles, the woman who emailed me lots of times during the past 2 weeks asking for further details about one of my eBay items finally bought it last night:eek:. That's 10 out of 10 things sold:j. None of them were big items so haven't noticeably lessened the clutterbut the proceeds have increased my 'treats' fund a little. This last one will bring in a total of £12.80 after postage costs so I'm quite pleased as it was a runner-up prize that I won and would never have used anyway. There's a very hard frost here still and I really didn't fancy going outside to scrape ice off the windscreens and drive all that way to the Post Office:o. I offer next day dispatch so the parcel really needs to go today. I'd completely forgotten that OH has an appointment to see the GP's Practice Nurse this afternoon to have his blood tests done and he's just reminded me and said he'll take my parcel and post it:j.
I hope everyone is managing to stay warm and safe:beer:0
