I totally get school on the decision. The activities will be happening in remote areas of the Lake District. A serious injury would probably require the air ambulance, and the chances of my daughter getting a serious injury gorge scrambling, hiking up mountains or kayaking in the middle of a lake are pretty high.

I would have been scared the whole time she would have been away.

Well Its week4 WI day at 7pm tonight.

Well done to all the losers and maintainers, gainers don't beat yourselves up or be hard on yourselves every week is new week, a new start, so don't beat yourselves up over gains, remind yourselves of your losses and achievements.

Been disciplined all week, and I'm not a fan of having syns on my plate, They're for maximising savvy syns in the last 4 weeks I've consumed 60 syns in total, so im not even savvy with my savvy syns not using them!
My wife is ok with it, but I feel guilty consuming syns in general meals, i feel disappointed with wasting them like that.

Being new to MSE I have read and posted in other sub forums and this is the only board that I have read and contributed to that I feel is a "community" feel to it, no matter what there is always a friendly atmosphere and people are appreciative of hints tips and advice, there is no hang ups and semantic arguments over words or meanings, I have read and implemented lots of advice given in the forum and taken recipes thanked people for them. You step out this board though and its like your in the twilight zone!

Will report back on WI tonight.

    Good luck all!

Incidentally, how many of us are having the extra HEA from the new plan? Personally I'm sticking with the old way but feel a little more comfortable if I have Parmesan on Bolognese or go over on milk.:)

I'm using the new plan 100% - two HEAs and all the new syn values. It's freed me up so much to be able to have cereal or porridge and not have to syn milk later on for my hot drinks. I only use the full amount if I have cereal, five hot drinks AND 20g cheese though, and that's a rare (but delicious) day.
Is anyone else managing it without all the sweetner products?

I don't like the taste of sweetener so I just carry on using sugar and allocate about 5 syns a day for it in my hot drinks and on cereal. I stopped buying Mullers when they added the syns because I'm not actually a massive fan and would only have them because they were free. It's all about working out what things make you feel like you're not being deprived and allowing yourself to have them.

Well I made the mistake of opening a packet of biscuits yesterday but I couldn't help it your honour I was pre-menstrual! :o Feeling a bit happier now, hopefully I can recover from it by Saturday.

    Today:
    B - None
    D - Cinnamon porridge
    T - Aubergine curry
    HEA - Milk
    HEB - Oats
    Syns - Sugar (5), hot chocolate (2) = 7
Exercise - C25K Week 4 Run 1, yoga class tonight

I made the diet cola ham at the weekend! Wasn't very impressed, I found it very rich. Now I have four portions in the freezer :o Oh well, I'll be glad of it come the apocalypse.

    Have a good week all!

PS - Good luck at WI tonight TTD and Mrs! Yeah there are some boards on here I definitely steer clear of - once bitten twice shy!

Hubby often cooks chicken wraps on a sat and these are defo not syn friendly so need to look at this too....

When I did sw first go round I did really well, a couple of pounds off target when I stopped going. I did however do all the sugar substitutes, I.e diet drinks, sweetners, mullerlights etc. I am not so comfortable with doing that this time round and want to avoid all sweetners. It's certainly going to make it more of a challenge, is anyone else managing it without all the sweetner products?

Wraps is a favourite in our house too.
You can have 1 WW wrap as your HB, but I personally don't think it's worth it.
These days I give the wrap a miss and have rice or couscous with it instead.
I also find cottage cheese is an okay replacement for soured cream.

Get you on sweetners. I have lots of them, but feel they aren't great. I am working on gradually reducing them. Down from 3 to 2 in my coffee, only 1 fizzy drink a day, and generally having food less sweet than I used to.

Good luck with tonights weigh in.
I used to be the same with syns. Didn't like to 'waste' them on normal food. Wanted to feel like I was having a treat.

Problem is after a few weeks I was starting to get a bit bored with my meals, and then I would crave more high synned food.

I find adding 1-2 syns of dressing to a salad takes it from something I only ate because I should, to something I really enjoyed and looked forward to eating. Same with a bit of miso or coconut milk added to noodles.

I try to limit my in meals syns to under 5 a day now, which makes the meals more enjoyable, but still allows me to have proper treats.

    Afternoon everyone.

Well done all the losers - hoping I join you this week!
Kathryn so sorry about your daughter's trip. Our children's disappointments are harder to bear than our own, aren't they?

I'm mixing and matching, much like you. Most days I have the one HEA but don't count it if I have 2 (usually milk in drinks plus occasional cheese)

Hi, Madwithmoney. I don't use sweeteners as they seem not to agree with me (other than what's in occasional ready made stuff.) I don't take sugar in drinks so it's just the occasional tsp sugar which I'm happy to syn.

I do the opposite using syns mainly in meals. I think it shows how adaptable SW is that both ways work. It helps avoid my inborn inclination to snack and means I can adapt meals that the rest of the family enjoy. I'd be shot at dawn if a Sunday dinner didn't include gravy and Yorkshire puds! And I agree with you about the tone of this thread - always helpful and supportive.

    Todays Menu
B Bran Flakes, blueberries, 0% yoghurt and honey
L HM chunky veg soup, 2 Ryvitas with light cheese triangle, banana
D Don't know yet - invited to DD1's so who knows??!

    Have a good day.
  • Afternoon all! Sorry about DD Kathrynha, but I'm sure she will understand the reasoning behind it.

Yesterday was my friends daughter's birthday, we went to Top Golf, never played it in my life, but was good fun. As the whole day was for the birthday girl, I was a bit apprehensive about eating, so started off very much on plan, Weetabix with blueberries. Left home about 8:30 to meet up at the venue for our 10:00 booking and when we met, I was greeted with the immortal words " you know there are going to be a lot of syns today", could only do my best. Finished there and dropped her son off so he could go to work then went for lunch (birthday girl stayed at home!) Ended up in Starbucks where I desperately wanted to have a cheese & tomato toastie, but went instead for pasta, rocket, pepper & mozzarella salad, but didn't eat the cheese as at that stage I knew it was pizza for dinner, so there would be cheese involved. Couldn't find the syns, but nearest was 3 1/2, so took 1 off for not eating the cheese.

Trying to sort the pizza order was a nightmare trying to accommodate all of us, then my friends DH decided he wanted a kebab, & her mum, fish & chips!. Friend & I were having bbq chicken, so I was reasonably happy with the amount of syns. Pizzas arrived and there was a wail from the kitchen from my friend, "oh no, there is bacon on it!" I'm allergic, so pizza was out of the question, ended up having some of the doner kebab meat (he had to eat my pizza with the kebab!), with the salad and a few chips, they were quite dry, so I allowed 3 syns. Birthday cake involved a lot of cream, so I have gone for 15 syns in my mind, it was not a big piece, so hopefully that is an ok count. So overall, what could have been a very synful day, was much better than expected. It is terrible when having to guess syn values though.

Got fajitas tonight, looking forward to that :)

Mad with Money - if you use the sugar free Polos they are 4 Syns for a pack but you don't want to be eating a whole tube a day (they have a laxative effect!), although if you want to avoid sweetness that might not be an option for you!

For wraps you can use the Weight Watcher ones as HEB or if you want to make your own wraps you can use the Aldi Wholemeal bread mix. Make up as directed and use 60g of it. Probably worth making a batch and freezing them.

If you don't want to use sweetness then you are going to have to do a lot of labels on foods! If you don't use sugar in tea and coffee that will help as 1 tsp is a syn so could use several syns a day if you drink a. lot of them.

    Good luck.

One of my worst memories from Primary school is not being allowed to go on a school trip as they said it wasent safe.
That was nearly 50 years ago & I still remember :(
